Something needs to be done about the rating system for workshop levels.
I’m tired of witnessing my levels I put months of effort into get more dislikes than likes because the players aren’t fighting robots in them or it's too hard for them to beat (and they rarely ever give feedback) so they give up and mindlessly dislike the level. I'm okay with people having a good reason to not like the stuff I make, but the issue is if the majority of people dislike my stuff without giving any feedback to what’s bad about it how am I supposed to improve what they didn’t like about my level?

Because of this, the majority of the workshop community supports low quality spam or levels that are easy to beat, while usually the levels that have actual effort put into them are pushed away and only people that have a good amount of experience with the level editor appreciate levels with effort put into them. Most players have zero experience with the level editor so they just mindlessly dislike a level in game whenever they aren’t experiencing what they want to experience with it.

I think the developers should keep in mind that the main reason experienced people make steam workshop content for game hubs is because it gets popular and people in the community support it, in this case the majority of this community has a mindset that promotes low quality spam levels over levels with actual effort put into them (because it mostly consists of kids), and that can be really demotivating to a creator who put a lot of effort into their level and watch it get more dislikes than likes + get swiftly drowned out by the low quality levels. Basically, putting effort into your levels to end up with mostly dislikes on it has very little payoff for how much you did to create the levels, which could be one of the leading reasons a lot of talented level creators abandon the level editor, which in the end makes the workshop have even less quality levels in it than low quality ones.

That's right, some kind of strange phenomenon in our community. Usually in other games, something better than an empty map and enemies is encouraged. In the same game, the opposite is true. I don't understand why this is happening.

Dude you just described me, I completely agree, the problem is not only in the number of dislikes, also in the reason, no one ever writes in the comments that they did not like, on my last level is 13 dislikes. Why they put them - I have no idea, I as a creator is not clear to me what to change, what to tweak to make the level better, because there are thousands of reasons why a person may not like something, but feedback is nil, the only way I can get feedback is from my friends who agreed to test my level. And only on their comments I tweaked something, changed something, made something easier, but that's it.
The most important thing that people put dislikes even so talented people as Extra_PFD, whose buildings in the editor just amaze, these people putting dislikes do not think what a titanic work does the author? This is a total disrespect.
I hope that people will learn to write constructive criticism in the comments, it is important to any content creator, and it seems that not everyone understands this.

I call this the "The Old Creators Are Quitting and No One Wants to Learn How to Use the Editor" phenomenon.

In order to keep a level editor alive with good levels. Creators need to be constantly releasing new high quality content. The problem is that many creators are quitting without new ones joining. This is because the editor is terrible and unoptimal for complicated projects. It lacks simple features such as a grouping system or saveable prefabs. Doborog didn't need these when he made the editor because he would just code anything he needed directly into the game. This leaves the editor feeling lackluster and frustrating. Why waste time with this unoptimized editor that lacks basic features? This is why many creators quit.

As for new ones not joining, I dont really have an explanation. My best guess is that it is easier to post spam rather than actually learning the editor.

Oh, yes, you're absolutely right. Major serious projects are not possible in the editor. The game could become a same Roblox/GarrysMod/Spore, but I didn't, because the developer either didn't see the potential, or just doesn't want to develop it.

This is very true. This game could be a robot Garry's mod or Roblox, but it didn't. Why? I don't know, but I'm kinda disappointed the devs don't see this. I guess they can't see well out of their ridiculous VR headsets :/

To be fair even though the level editor is limited with what you can do with it, there still is and has been a ton of really cool stuff made with it which gives it a sort of charm to it. Lots of innovative projects made with this level editor would be considered insignificant in other games with more powerful level editors if it weren't for this games limited level editor.

Tbh this game has one of the best level editors I have seen, i.e the Paint the Town Red editor doesn't have as good an animation timeline as this game, the animation system is what is so cool about this editor. You can make lots of cool stuff with it that wouldn't be possible in other games.
