Good end strategy to beat Zodiark?

I am fine with getting him down to 20%, but then he puts up the physical shield and im screwed..i read two different walkthroughs and they both tell opposite methods of beating him. What is the best method of beating him? For example, what spell is good to use against him with my black mage? One says Scrath, and other says a different spell..Scourge...so im confused which one is better to use. Please help me with tips. Thank you.

one thing i always did was when it was close to the 20% mark i just quickening him down. But if you don't want to do that then scathe is probably the highest damaging spell to use, probably can opt with flare if you got it. Scathe just uses a lot more magic so you can't spam it as much but the fight will end quickly at that point so it doesn't matter too much.

Thanks. I have tried quickening but it never really kills it..ill try again though. I have also tried with Scathe, but it takes some time to cast sadly..i will try again though. Thank you for the help.

I used bubble for safety and inversion, about the weapons I couldn't tell you besides obviously the best ones and the fact that I'm here absorbs the sacred,also haste I used
