because yes i agree with Evilsod, the worst thing/ennemy here are the bakanamies.
with descent defense (i would say around 35 physical def or more+ buffs) and these 2 spells at around lvl 40/50 you should be ok but make your way cautiously through the necrohol and be carefull with float when it wears off and have a counter to "disable" if possible (esuna works in that matter but black belts should be your go to.
I love the music of that place !!!
So you can indeed go there at pretty low level.
Life is good :)
I think he's implying that Firaga deals more damage than Blizzara even if your target is weak to Ice... at least I presume thats it cos nothing there is weak to Fire.
[POW x RANDOM(1~1.125) - MDEF] x [2 + MAG x (Lv+MAG)/256)]
Weaknesses, potency equipment, weather, etc. all factor in multiplicatively, but since MDEF is subtracted directly it's entirely possible to outdamage lower tier spells against weak targets with a higher-tier, non-weakness spell. Or not. It all depends on the enemy MDEF:
[POWweak x RANDOM(1~1.125) - MDEF] x 2 > [POWstrong x RANDOM(1~1.125) - MDEF]
Firaga is power 120, Blizzara is 70. Which means that on average, Blizzara will do more than Firaga on an ice-weak target IF that target's MDEF is 21.0625 or less.
To give some idea what we're dealing with, a Baknamy in Nabreus/Nabudis will have 32-34 MDEF (depending on level) - meaning that Firaga will, indeed, deal more damage even though they are weak to ice.
Potency is also a factor, of course, but it should be easy to have both ice and fire potency at that point, making it a moot point. If you factor Oil into it, fire is an even clearer winner - though of course it's probably not worth wasting your time oiling up every little thing.
EDIT: it's worth noting, perhaps, that healing spells do not factor in MDEF - even when used offensively. Cura/ga/ja are often a very good choice against undead.
