But it is all fallacies, a convient scapegoat for people with a lack of knowledge or an underpowered PC. I bet not one of you actually know what Denuvo is or how it works.
You're just sheep looking for someone to blame for your own shortcomings.
First thing Denuvo is Spyware Crap the Companies use to Havest you Data and Play habits.
And Yes I Do have a friend who (Had, fired when it was leaked to the Press) worked for a company using this Practice.
my other Household Members also web conference from home so Yeah Bandwitdh thats a Big Problem, its expensive already without the whole US net neutrality being Repealled
So the world should sit tight and wait for you to catch up because the richest county in the world would rather build a wall round Mexico than invest in a proper high speed broadband network?
Plenty of shills around, as well as people that do it not for a companies sake, but their own twisted views. Tho I've seen very few on Steam forums, I don't think most care. Shills tend to be active on official company forums, and the later on fan focused forums.
If you went to for example FFXIV official forums you'd be able to see live shills. :P
That said I don't think there's any here. Shills anyway, twisted people are can be anywhere.
Kids should learn you shouldn't accept any condition just to satisfy your urge to give in and play the latest game. There's plenty of games out there costing far less money and respecting your privacy and rights a fair deal more.
Malware is not just stuff that deletes your pics collection to make you cry, it's stuff that exploits you - https://duckduckgo.com/?q=the+game+theorists+loot+box&t=ffab&iax=videos&ia=videos&iai=Xu6pXCxiRxU and the less you realize the better, as you're more likely to not put any defence on.
Among the observable direct effects of Denuvo I can tell it prevents games to be ported to Linux and Mac. Because Denuvo devs couldn't care less. Hell, their whole job is to *prevent* people from playing games, for sure reaching out to as much people as possible must not rank very high in their priority list.
There's also the fact that Denuvo developers are making a living out of it, and guess who's covering their high R&D costs, rent, bills, equipment? Yes, you complaining about 50 bucks being too much for this game, you just paid for something that gives you no benefit at all in the best case.
But hey, lots of people don't care, because omg I need to play teh game, omg Denuvo is so leet! and before you know it, you get Denuvo2 in the next game. More aggressive, more invasive, more expensive. Paid by you.
Do you think I'm exaggerating? Look at the progression of it in the past few years:
- no protection
- simple label check on the cdrom (only prevents drag&drop copies, effective when cd writers were not a common thing)
- serial number requests
- errors on the cdrom
- sony's malware on audio CDs (actual malware, as in trojan, check on wikipedia)
- compulsory online registration
- always online checks
So that's what you've been paying for. We could use more people to establish a human settlement on the Moon, and instead we waste resources to come up with incredibly convoluted techniques to restrict what people can do. That's just how advanced our society is. All funded by consumers, obviously.
Not to forget, you're running code on your machine that almost nobody in the world knows what the hell it's doing to your machine. Starforce, Denuvo etc for sure install crap that won't get removed until you format your hard drive. God knows what else they do, or even what these files are. But hey, if you're so keen on running random stuff on your computer, please leave your email address here in the comments and I'll send you executables to run.
I could easily see company shills active on Steam forus during the initial sales period of a new title launch. After that, I doubt it would be economically viable to maintain that level of public perception manipulation.
Though I have seen shills from official games forums move over to the steam forums to do damage control during periods of community backlash. One in particular was an xbox user who came to steam forums to talk about how great the developers were which, in my opinion, is a very strange thing to see.
You're so edgy and cool, calling other people you have no clue about kids. Just because your argument is based on ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.
I would never have expected that from an idiot hiding behind a private profile.
The irony of this reaction. Calling someone who uses insults an "idiot" puts you in the very same boat optically. You might want to turn that critical eye on your own actions and behavior as well. Just a humble opinion of course.
Is using a word that describes someone an insult? Calling someone an idiot is only offensive if it's not true. otherwise it's simply an adjective.
I have no issues with my behaviour, but if you do have any concerns, do not be afraid to approach me about it. I'm only a ♥♥♥♥ to other ♥♥♥♥♥ .
Wat? lol since when is being a kid a bad thing? Or I don't understand where I'd be insulting anybody. If you're not a kid, aka if your age is greater than - say - ~18, then why do you feel my comment was directed at you?
Also lol congrats you unlocked the Ad-hominem fallacy achievement! https://yourlogicalfallacyis.com/ad-hominem
You're spot on my friend. There are official researches backing you https://arstechnica.com/gaming/2017/09/eu-study-finds-piracy-doesnt-hurt-game-sales-may-actually-help/ it's just that... somehow... some paper never became popular. The empirical "1 download = 1 lost sale" seems to get a lot more pitching, for some reason, in spite of not being backed by anything at all.
