just stick to gunslinger. i srsly dont get why anybody in their right mind would chose hunter controls over gunslinger. the only advantage you get is that your weapon doesnt clip through windows and stuff but even then there is a big minus with getting used to the new controls with muscle memory. also gunslinger leaves less space for errors so if you panic or fat finger you dont get as punished as in hunter controls.
You also get an FOV penalty in gunslinger
I think hunter is better for those slower, stealthier type players that prefer situational awareness
Vs, gunslinger for your pure shooters
Not everyone picks what is most advantageous
I prefer Hunter for the immersion aspect of it
Lets you take in the world more, etc
I'm going off topic because others already have...
It's kinda dumb that they even added the option. Way to go against your original design choice. Sure, the original intended game-play (Hunter) was a bit strange for a few rounds... but it was one of several reasons why the game felt so unique at the time.
I will agree that Hunter mode can suffer from panic errors--- because you have to delay the two key presses ever so slightly or you don't ADS. But i'm so used to it now, Gunslinger just seems odd.
They really just need to add a press mouse2 to hip and hold to ADS. Unless that causes problems?
But holding 'mouse2' to hip and tapping 'shift' works OK enough for me. Maybe you just need to force yourself for several weeks?
Why are you using holding a DPI button? Why not just lower the in-game sensitive(s)? Although, the game is stupid like many modern titles and uses a limited slider like a console game... I use 1600DPI and the lowest sens (0.10 I think) is only just low enough.
Gunslinger never existed, it was the hunter set up for a very long time. So for me im used to the hunter setup. Theres no disadvantage, people think there is because your weapon isnt shouldered but theres like .3 of a second difference. If your ambushed at close range your screwed either way and at longer distances you need to account for target lead and bullet speed anyway. Very rarely are there situations where having your weapon up is pure advantage.
If i hear something or if im clearing an area i put them up anyway. About 80% of my kills are from hearing people. Also melee is left click so i dont need a seperate button to press.
That's all I'm asking for, the possibility to toggle hip position and have ADS on hold. Like if I'm fighting long range or in a situation where we all see each other it makes it harder to hold 2 button and just staying on hip whenever I'm not ADS is much better, specially if I need to release ADS and use it back in quick succession to strafe or eject bullet.
Also I have about 15 years of FPS and muscle memory with hold to ADS, doing it with tapping shift will never do better for me.
I use a DPI button because I like very high sensitivity when moving around or firing close range hipfire, lower sensitivity when ADS (which I do with ingame settings), and DPI button for very low sensitivity for long range precision shots. The sliders can't know when I need very precise shot or not.
I've been playing FPS since they first were made. I got used to it after a few days/weeks. Like i said..maybe try and adapt? Because that's all you can do..or stick with Gunslinger.
Sorry to be a pain--but help me understand your setup...why are the in-game sens sliders not enough? Do they not go low enough?
are you crazy? Fat fingering your controls in gunslinger mode results in a gunshot, while in Hunter it is merely a melee attack.
It has many other advantages such as MUCH finer melee control (with things like bayonete or talon) , or you know.. Personal enjoyment of the aesthetic.
And no there isn't unfortunately OP. I also use Hunter mode and I found it best to put my ADS onto toggle, then put that to my E key.
So I ready my gun with right click, if I want to ADS I hit e once, if I wish to get out of ADS I simply release right click (which unreadies my gun and as a result, gets me out of ADS)
Did wonders for me in Hunter mode, never went back since.
I can seriously not understand how anyone can play with hunter mode. I mean having to press two buttons to full aim. Having to hold a button just to hip fire. I am bad enough at this game why would I give the enemy even more millisecons of me having to aim or double aim b4 I shoot. HELL NO! I really really do not get it. What "advantages" for melee do I get? I can melee just fine without that mode.
I'm just repeating myself, yes, Gunslinger gives you a tiny advantage in aim speed and less margin of error...But it just seems goofy, but it's probably because I am used to Hunter.
It's harmless and each to their own..but It was a bit silly of them to add the option. It just went against their unique design choice. But they've been gimping stuff for a while now. Those asking for it are probably the same mongs complaining about the lowered weapon aiming point (not centred on the screen).
Holding mouse2 is pretty normal for most games. With this one, when setup correctly..you only have to tap another key. Really not that big of an issue.
