Confed Manfred with Vlad/Isabella?

Hello, I'm trying to confed Manfred vC and am following this guide https://www.reddit.com/r/totalwar/comments/60ntgk/warhammer_how_to_confederate_with_vc_early_as_von/.
I've plundered his castle multiple times now but somehow he always comes back with a full garrison after 1 turn. He accept everything with a peace treaty except the confed. He has no armies or heroes.
What can I do?

Turn 2 take castle Drakenhof, after that immediately sack minor settlement to the north and vassalize Manny after 10 turns. After that wait at least 10 turns to confederate him. Your gonna have to protect him in the mean time. If you want Ghorst wait till turn 30 to confed.

Use Templehoff as a punching bag to farm XP and bloodkisses while you keep Mannfred contained. To really get the most out of it make sure Vlad loses to Manny and the Templehoff faction leader once before attacking them.

As a general rule in my experience, confederation considerations tend to be:
- Your general strength vs their general strength
- The degree to which they perceive you, and other factions, as an immediate threat
- How much they like you

Not going to read through a guide since guides are never going to be particularly reliable in this game; I would recommend considering the above and actually analysing.

Just get a military alliance with them, ask them to attack someone who seems strong, then keep an eye to see if they will lose their armies. As soon as they lose it, confederate them. It rely a bit on luck, but eventually their AI will lose and get weak enough that they will accept your confederation with open arms. I got him on turn 15 this way, which was a mistake in retrospect, because he hadn't recruited Isabella yet, so be sure she was recruited before you confederate.

It might be best to wait for Ghorst to be hired before confedding Manfred. Ghorst gets a lot of dislike, but when he's on his mortis engine mount he gets a aura similar to the aura that makes Morghur OP in sieges.

With +2k hours playing Vampire counts, this is by far the best way.
At turn 30 Mannfred gets Ghorst, meaning at your turn 31, you get them both if you confed him there..

Easiest way to confed as vampire count is to Subjugate him. (take his last city.) thats even give you a blood kiss. then build up strengh, make him attack something so he looses his army and become weak.
- You strong
- He weak
- High Reliability
- High Relation (you get that with vasal + trade bonuses)
- Be at war with servel stronger faction.. Like Reikland.

Then at turn 31, you cancel your vasal on him, and confed him, he will then be weak, in war with many, now he even pay you for it.

He is my vassal now. He has 2 armies (his LL) and is at war with nobody. I'm at turn 60 or something.

the first rule of confeding Mannfred is to push him out of Drakenhof, otherwise he's feel too confident.

I'm playing a Vlad campaign since a couple days, at start I let Mannfred in peace and traded with him
He went full north while I went west.
I destroyed 2 empire factions and conquered half of Gelt Solland
Manny went up to Kislev border but he was trounced eventually and get back with 1 army only
It was very nice to have him securing my eastern borders for the early game
Then on turn 30, I had 120+ relations and confeded him instantly without even a gift...

That is VERY bad..
1. Dragenhoff have a VERY powerfull special building for Vlad/Issabella.
a 1 tier building that give +3 vampire hero cap + 3 lvl when you recruit them..

2. By turn 60 you should have confeded Mannfred, Khemler and the Red Duke...

Only the red duke is spottet and he doesn't like me. Manfred is my ally now and overall strenght rank 3. Until chaos shows up of course ^^

He made a huge comeback from one plundered castle and rank 100 to rank 3 and crushing the empire in a few turns.

Aaand he just lost his armies and went back to rank 81...

So now build some armies just for show (you can disband them later), offer him money and confed him ! :)

His financial power is too strong. He recovers instantly. No idea how he does it with only one city. And my own finances are weak and i need all money to defend myself from some pesky dwarfs.

Weird, I didn't experience that, if its power is below yours and you have good relations I thought it was easy
