This is why puzzles where dumb to begin with, players will just look up the answer. They add nothing to the game.
Aside from a guaranteed reward compared to the 90% waste of time that was the previous ruin-exploration mechanic?
These puzzles are infinitely better than the old events, for which the answers were chosen at random because there was no way to know the right answer.
Some dedicated players compiled a list of outcomes from the different scenarios that were in play in previous versions. Unfortunately there were many cases where there was NO monetary reward from a ruin scenario and a high chance of being punished for exploration instead. Only sure thing that came out from ruin exploration then was XP for the lord.
In addition, repeatedly exploring ruins for heroes was an expensive and unproductive way of levelling up heroes. At least now heroes can run the ruins and get 1-2 levels per correct answer and profit to boot.
If I only cared about the path of least resistance and getting rewarded as effortlessly as possible, I'd download a cheat mod.
Strategy games should be about strategy and tactics, that's why I buy Strategy games. I want CA to put more Strategy & Tactics options into the game, not puzzles.
