Ruin puzzles make no sense
I understand the dice one, where the "?" makes it fairly clear what they want you to determine.

But all the other puzzles are bunch of jumbled B.S, and they're not even clear about what you're supposed to determine.
"Solitude is always desired.. here's a bunch of random symbols" --??
"Alignment.. here's a bunch of lines that don't line up with anything, and some symbols because reasons" --??

This is why puzzles where dumb to begin with, players will just look up the answer. They add nothing to the game.

Aside from a guaranteed reward compared to the 90% waste of time that was the previous ruin-exploration mechanic?

Your logic is far dumber than anything else so far in this thread or the puzzles in the game. You're basically saying that no game should ever have puzzles because the answers are available online. There's this thing called self-restraint - or perhaps seeing value in the puzzle and thus not even considering spoiling the puzzle for oneself.

These puzzles are infinitely better than the old events, for which the answers were chosen at random because there was no way to know the right answer.

Some dedicated players compiled a list of outcomes from the different scenarios that were in play in previous versions. Unfortunately there were many cases where there was NO monetary reward from a ruin scenario and a high chance of being punished for exploration instead. Only sure thing that came out from ruin exploration then was XP for the lord.

In addition, repeatedly exploring ruins for heroes was an expensive and unproductive way of levelling up heroes. At least now heroes can run the ruins and get 1-2 levels per correct answer and profit to boot.

That's beside the point. The point is that the new puzzles are much more stimulating than the old events, which were based on blind trial & error and subsequent memorization. Now you get rewarded for applying your intellect a little. There's an effort and reward relationship—which in turn confers a sense of accomplishment—not just picking a random answer.

If I only cared about the path of least resistance and getting rewarded as effortlessly as possible, I'd download a cheat mod.

To be fair, players who aren't gifted with spatial recognition find the dial puzzles almost impossible without external help. Since there are answers for the (albeit large number of) puzzles now available, players who just want the reward can work on their memory instead of spatial manipulation.

I agree that the dial puzzle is over the top and either needs better instructions or simplification, but the rest are completely fine.

Strategy games should be about strategy and tactics, that's why I buy Strategy games. I want CA to put more Strategy & Tactics options into the game, not puzzles.

That's fair, but it's not like these puzzles are a core mechanic. They're a very minor diversion and something that is completely optional. At least they offer some sort of gameplay unlike the previous version of the interaction, which was simply picking a random option out of 4 possibilities and hoping for the best.
