How to download free DLC?

From steam library when I click download on any of the free content, it opens my game. From the game when I try to download free content, it opens the steam store.....how the crap do I actually get that stuff???

Try restarting the steam

The content is actually in your game allready. Assuming you've patched it recently. All it does is turn a switch, basically.

If it's not activated in your game, just verify file integrity.
(right click the game in your library, local files, verify).

You can double check that it's added to your DLC list. If it's not added there, though, I'm not sure what you should do next, it's allways worked for me.

Happens to me everytime. I essentially just repeat the same process until it shows up on the added DLC list and double check on a web browser that shows it as "in Library"

Yeah once u click the dlc it loads it works. in less u mean the free ror thing then u need to register at the ca site then connect it to ur steam account

Let's go through the steps:

1. Go to the FreeLC's page. Let's use Alith Anir for our example.

2. Click the download / acquire button. It will open the game

3. Opening the game will trigger a *click* sound when you get to the main menu, and it will say "Thank you for dling the dlc, please close Warhammer for it to take effect."

4. Check your character roster, Anir should be unlocked.

5. Repeat this process for all of them. Yes, you have to close and open the game every time for each one. It's an absolute mess and CA should be ashamed of themselves.

EXTRA NOTE: for Mortal Empires, you must first do the above steps, then exit, find it on the little DLC box in the library menu, uncheck the checkbox, then recheck it. Mortal Empires will then download.

you do not own the game. Any free content cannot be claimed if you just share game 2

Which free LC content are you talking about, by any chance?

There's some - the Bretonians, the RoR upgrade, etc - that are only available to get on the total war access site. (requires signup).

Bretonnia doesn't require total war access, you could get a couple days earlier if you went there but after that you could activate through steam. Only the ROR require that account.

Lokhir, fellhart, mortal, etc - all the stuff that says free dlc.

try going to the store page on steam and clicking the dlc. do you have any mods that mght mess it up like unlocker . idk steam updates blah blah. u mght have to reinstall to make sure it goes though. from the steam store click the flc then reverfiy and such
