The Best Spell (In Vanilla)
I would probally say either fate of Buena, nets of amatok, or regrowth. (I do not know how to spell these words)

For me, it would either be Curse of the midnight wind, spirit leech, earth blood or the enfeebling foe. Overcast nets can be a game changer too.

Arcane Unforging is heaps better than the nerfed Spirit Leech.

Foot of Gork. It's a giant foot, that comes out of the sky, and squishes everything directly beneath it. It also happens to be pretty damn effective at wiping out entire units if placed right but it wins because it's a giant foot in the sky.

All Depends unfortunately for instances!

Depending on enemy unit density and positioning damaging spells or even buffing spells shine for example

Grey seer (ruin) The lightning bolt one did you know that when an enemy siege tower is on your walls and another unit tries to use it and they all congregate at the base of it? use that lightning spell and watch that unit die!

Then lets move on to the Dark elves ritual spell (dark conduit i think its called) Now this, FML this is stupid strong the amount of times ive just charged in my LL or Hero/champion let the enemy AI surround him get all nice and dense pop it and watch there army die like just vanish in a nice gory explosion of bloody death!

Also this is where AOE spells come in handy if you do this, Use a High armor/hp unit like LL's or heros/champions etc then use any aoe spell, Bladewind, the two fire ones, the shadow one, light etc you get the jist

Pestilance also holds one of the best breath spells and that can arguebly wipe out entire units or decimate entire flanks the heavens breath spell is good as well

Orc shamens also have the foot of gork (or mork?) which we know before magic had its buff was really the only usefull damage spell since WH1 so yeah *squish*

Now lets move on to utility spells shall we

Now i would argue that the best spell utlity wise for the empire is the Net, couple that with some arty or ranged units and bam dead enemy

Vampires you could say kemmlar has the best spell by getting krell to show his boney op ass to tank an enemy army, of course you also have the healing spell or the one that gives you extra attack and damage! on units

personally in my skarsnikt campaign the goblin shamen with his utility spells really helped making enemy hit less making mine hit better extra damage and even has a the bad moon and that other blast one so yeah they are nice to have

Honestly it all comes down to who your fighting how your fighting style is and how best to amplify that with magic,


Alot of people will say spirit leech is the most op because it can snipe lords and that is true i guess to a point

There are many examples and situational but if i had to choose for the most generic spells here is the list and i will try to cover all races unique one

Breath of pestilence
Spirit leech
itchy nuisance
Dark conduit (all though not really a spell its still strong af)
Net
Fist of Gork (or mork?)
Foot of Gork (or mork?)
Banishment
Wind of death
Bladewind
van halls dance macabre
earth blood
that crow one (beast lore)

Only good on High unit size. I've found it to be absolutely terrible on SFO modded Normal, which is more or less the equivalent of vanilla Small. It was useless on vanilla Normal as well.

It damages all units in area... and on small unit sizes there just aren't enough units for it to be worth casting over a much more precise Urannon's Thunderbolt (or comet, if you can find a big enough blob)

My favorits are: Spirit Leech (great LL killer), The Fate of Bjuna (great for some units killing) and The Purple Sun of Xereus (great vor masskilling)

I know but how early you get it compared to the units you fight say your beastmen and you go for a spellcaster your fighting basic units and when the AI eventually clumps units its good for mass damage and death

I only play on ultra unit size so i guess stuff would change on small normal or large

Wind of death = auto win

Pha's Protection = make single entity unit look like idiot

Tempest = f*ck you dragon

The Purple Sun = best vortex spell

Howling Warpgale = it delete Skaven's weakpoint

I once wiped out 8 units of infantry with the Lore of Vampire wind spell. Love that. Spammed that with my army consisting only of Vlad, vampire, necromancer and 1 blood knights.

You are stupid or ? Arcane Unforging is a highlevel spell and Spirit Leech is a lowlevel spell -.-

Yup. See, on Normal unit size the equivalent spell is Wind Blast or The Burning Head.
