Impossible Cypher of the Old Ones

Can anyone help me here? Perhaps I'm being stupid, but it seems to me there's no way to tell if this one's blue or red.

The two red dots are the correct ones. I checked up the guide with all of them in it but now I know how to solve them manually.

I was kinda after help explaining the logic, not just the answer! :P

Someone on the TW forum has said the squad rents are diagonal mirrors of each other with the colours swapped, that would explain it, though I don't know if that's a rule or just a coincidence on this one. I was only using sudoku logic.

So how i do it is colors can't be lined up vertically and number can't be lined up horizontally. Hope that helps and sorry for spoiling it I just like these so much. They are good for the mined.

It's nothing but an easy-mode sudoku puzzle. No number or color may appear twice in a row, be it vertical or horizontal.

I've never played sudoku. I should look into it though if it's like this. I like these puzzles and the treasure at the end is fun. Thanks for the info

That's what I thought, but if you try to complete this one you'll find it's not the complete answer. Taken purely as a Sudoku (including the colours) there's no way to tell if the answer is red or blue.

See that's what i thought as well. Because as far as I know, sedoku was only numbers. These could be called like a double sudoku mybe....I don't know lol

Yeah, the colour is part of it, it's just an extra layer of sudoku as well as the numbers, but in *this particular one* the sudoku logic on the colours doesn't tell you the answer. If we accept that each row and each column must have one of each colour, there's still no way to work out which in the bottom right quadrant are blue and which are red.

Ugh, I remember this one. Actually wrote it out and everything, and was most annoyed when I just couldn't work it out. So I picked blue. Bleh.

The logic is about as simple as visual puzzles can possibly get. The yellows form a triangle, the reds will follow the same pattern (or to go further, each colour forms an identical pattern, rotated 90 degrees). As far as numbers go, the board is diagonally symmetrical both ways.

Applying sudoku logic doesn't work, as all four choices are a correct answer under those conditions.
