I mean... that is something? But not really what I want, or what common sense would dictate should be in the game in order to avoid getting drawn into a losing battle. Whilst I am ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, and since you reminded me, I should also mention you should be able to get settlements for money/peace/treaty/other settlements, like you could for example in Medieval II. So stupid to have AI hold on to the one settlement you need to complete the province, and you may even have one of the ones they need, too.
There's also a mod that adds more units to the Beastmen. >:)
I'd never really thought about it before, but it WOULD be good to have the option to not commit the troops to the defence of the city.
Yeah, that is an option, but afaik, they have nerfed retreating some while ago and now no matter your actual in-game losses, you will lose a huge portion of your army whenever you retreat from battle. So you cannot for example take an artillery-heavy skaven army, attack two Brettonian doomstacks, bomb the ♥♥♥♥ out of them, and retreat with everything unharmed just before they close in on you, and then finish them off much weaker in the next battle. I learned the hard way :/
Ikr? Also, I didn´t really have this issue where I was stuck in a save purgatory, I was meaning to go to the edge of the settlement and protect it, but in case it got attacked by 2 doomstacks, I would withdraw. Since I assumed I would not be able to do that, I drew one army away from the settlement, and let it get besieged by the other, then wiped both out the next turn.
