Is anyone else sick of the Vortex campaign?
Without spoiling the "story", is anyone else kind of fed up with this Vortex campaign?

Option 1: You have won the Vortex campaign; congratulations! As a reward for your valiant efforts, all other factions will now run a minus 100 diplomatic favour to your faction.

Additionally, should you have confederated with members of your race (basically a necessity depending on your faction), you are now extremely limited in matters of trade, diplomacy and economics.

Option 2: You have completed the campaign, and after being prompted with the "good job, you won!" screen, decide to go with another race - except there's a bit of a problem, although you have decided to change your faction the exact same linear campaign setting is thrust upon you. Sure you might not want to play along and you might even ignore all of those irritating ritual pop ups - but the other factions sure as hell don't.

Get ready for the exact same scenario with miniscule differences for an already lacking set of playable factions.

Have fun!

I haven't finished a campaign yet, and still I tend to agree with you, because I know that this Vortex thing totally dominates the game even more than the Chaos Invasion of WH 1. So much for "variety" and "replayability". I think a "No Vortex" mod will be very popular.

I heard the Mortal Empires campaign will be out a few weeks after launch. To me, that's when the real game begins. Vortex is just the beta-tide-over so you can play test the new races before the real war begins IMO.
I've only played one campaign so far and I quite enjoyed it. I suspect I'll still enjoy the second one, but the thought of doing it a third or fourth time... meh. Maybe if I take a break from it for a month or so.

Yes, finished it on legendary, now I'm just waiting for the grand campaign that won't force me to play in a certain way.

That's the real campaign. The entire vortex mess strikes me as a net negative all around.

Kind of like the Street Fighter and most fighting games...

Same stories.

Same stages.

Same victory conditions.

Man those games sucked huh?

Or how abouy the castlevania games? Even SotN...man.

Snark aside, no it doesn't bother me as, like with ME3 sure an ending may suck or be a let down ,or a game doesn't have a bazillion unlockables, I play games because I enjoy playing the game.

These 4 factions play differently enough that it keeps it fresh and enjoyable. Due to their differences the game forces me to face and deal with different sets of challenges.

Still, it's the reason I can play all the fighting games I do. Why I can go back to the Mega Man series. They won't change but that isn't the point, like rewatching the same movie you've seen before it's because I enjoy the experience of actually participating with said activity.

Though I do agree with your last part...I can't wait to smash some lizards with the VC . Or to have battles between rat ogres and minotaurs.

Grand Campaign when?

Played as lizardmen, tried to ignore it and just play for luls not doing the votex stuff, had a lot of fun the 'good' guys won 90% of the map

the HE were MASSIVE had confed most of the other elves then randomly on forth rit went ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and declared war on basically me and anyone else (I was their ally and was like 300+ friendly) with them... like wtf.

SO yeah, I did 31 hours from the momment it dropped (yeah i know its sad I played for more than a day strait) now im just waiting for mortal empires, I don't care for this Vortex nonsense.

I wasn't even a major power, I owned the tip of Korq-Gars area gold city, the starting ones and all the skaven (was friends with the other lizard men) I deliberately didng confed etc I had liek 10-11 settlments... and 2 - 2-1/2 to 3 armies and was just enjoying the game.

Kind of a bummer. meanwhile HE's had like 20 armies stamping around the map killing everyone.

anyway.... mortal empires I await....

I never said that I disliked the Vortex campaign, I actually really enjoyed my first playthrough.
My main point being is that just the one playthrough is enough - the game should not have shipped without an alternative or even making the sandbox an unlockable feature after completing the main campaign.

It doesn't get much different with your second playthrough regardless of which faction you pick.

how does i'm sick of this not = dislike ?
LordBlade Oct 2, 2017 @ 3:40pm
I would like to be able to play with the Vortex off. I mean, I didn't mind the story all that much... the first time. But after going through it, I just don't care anymore. It just feels like a forced rush for no real reason.

When we get the combined campaign, that won't be an issue I suppose. But for just this game, having a mod to turn it off would be nice.

"Sick (and tired) of someone/something

to have experienced too much of someone or something with the result that you are annoyed:
I’m sick of him whining about money".
Maschinengewehr Oct 2, 2017 @ 3:48pm
You can ignore it and just do your own thing you know? All you need to do Is fight the final battle and delay the AI until you win by domination.

After a couple campaigns it was enough. I just did two more very quick ones to see the story cinematics (which are good btw). Doing your own thing regardless of the vortex is fun, and with the combined campaign coming it should only get better.
LordBlade Oct 2, 2017 @ 3:55pm
Except that the domination win gets you the "you lose" ending. Which is dumb.

So? If you've already finished the vortex campaign as each race you've already seen all there is to see with it.

Or does a screen saying that you "lost" too much to bear for you?
LordBlade Oct 2, 2017 @ 3:59pm
Doesn't matter much really, it's just annoying. They really should have planned on people not wanting to play their story mode and just play for a domination game.
