Performance issue
In Warhammer 1 i got at least 50 fps now in Warhammer 2 i only get 20, and i use the same settings. The graphics are on high in both games

Same here, game is not only uglier (because of some weird sharpening filter and washed-out colors) than its predecessor, but also runs drastically worse. I had 50-60 fps in WH1 at high-extreme graphic settings, now i struggle to maintain 30 fps on low-medium. I am waiting for some patch, because right now game is almost unplayable for me.

so you think its just the game. its not a hardware problem. i just got to wait it out?

The game underperforms with some gpu's. A GTX 750 should give you 45-55 fps on 1080p in CA's own words on high, my gpu is maybe 15% slower than a GTX 770 and I get 17-20 fps on 900p with low/medium settings.
And the gpu is at 100%, so it's not the CPU.
But it's a common issue with TW-games at the beginning, I remember Rome 2 or even Warhammer 1 at the beginning. I think they need some time as always.

This guy gets on TW:W1 33 frames on a i3 with a gtx 1050ti everything on ultra (with FXAA), so this game is all about the GPU.

Total wars has been all about cpu for some while, if you have old amd's cpus, get intel ( or new amd, but im not sure if they are good enough).

If you want to get smooth total war experience especially in those massive battles, you need to shell out some dough for high end stuff. These games has never been friendly on lower end pc's and laptops

I don't know if you want to troll, but I literally some minutes ago posted a video from someone with a potato as CPU and a strong graphics card and he runs the (first) game everything on ultra with very playable frame rates.
And now it's the internezz, someone MUST come around and say: "it's all about the cpu, get some new cpu." WHAT?

SSAO off
Shadows turned down
Filter change to triliniar

game now runs just as good as TWW1 - and bizarely looks better :O
SSAO off is not an option. The game looks way worse with that setting disabled. I hope they simply optimize it. GTX 1070 and in big battles the game sometimes drop to 35-40 and even 26-27 for a second sometimes. A game with a 770 in the recommended requeriments...

Running it on ultra with stable 30fps doenst mean that if the benchmark runs it at 30fps. That benchmark and the one in warhammer 2 doesnt render full blown battles, just the first charge.

Also i3's are mid end if they are of the pricier sort, which that i3 is, so they are quite far from a potato and they blow amd's old am3 socket cpu's

Just about every game that has to simulate alot of small units are more cpu intensive. Also if yous didnt notice this allready, almost every AAA game has credited nvidia or amd, but total wars credit intel and i7 processors. You prob can connect some dots and figure out why they dont have amd or nvidia there.

The first game sponsored AMD. In this it was swapped out for Intel Core i7.

Odd.

I'd give it a week till they come out with patch 1. - They usually always have a big performance / bug patch after a week of people sending stuff to the forums

Odd.
Rome 2 was intel and its not sponsor, its more like its made with their stuff, like nvidia's physx.
It could be amd becouse it was the first total war with directx12

I'm running an i7-6700k at 4.0hz, 16gb RAM, M.2 SSD, Geforce 1080 8GB, at 1440p/144hz and I struggle to maintain even 60fps with medium to ultra settings with SSAO turned off. This is the ONLY game I have issues with. With everything set to their lowest settings with SSAO on I can break 100fps. I'm fine with 60 fps if it is a somewhat stable 60 fps but that is not the case here.

The game is terribly optimized. Period.

You and I have almost exactly the same specs, and display settings (benq xl2730z here), glad to see I'm not the only one having issues.. was thinking about downloading the most recent nvidia drivers thinking that might provide a fix.. I guess not though.

Kind of crazy, the last game performed awesome day one, what in the heck could they change so drastically in their engine for this one I wonder.

Devs need to get their act together and optimise this game. If it was any other product I would ask for a refund! At the moment it's a performance mess. Not being able to maintain 60fps in med/high on gtx 1080, I7 in 1440p is just unacceptable. I have pretty much the same specs. FPS in TWW2 is about 50% less than in TWW1. Fiddling with settings; SSAO off ~15fps, shadows off/medium ~10fps - helps a bit but but the image quality deteriorates. Even so, the FPS sometimes drops to 30s. I'm new to TWW so I will just play TWW1 until they fix TWW2.
