Bought the DVD version. Still 4h download???

What is this joke? I bought a physical copy because I have a bad internet connection (10 MBit/s), installed from the 4 DVDs JUST TO GET A F***ING 13GB DOWNLOAD?????
If I wanted to download the game (and here comes joke Nr 2) I could possibly already play thanks to pre-load, which doesn't work on physical copies.

What is the point in a physical copy if it only contains half the data???

I know such things as day-one-patches exist, but in this case, the download is as big as the physical data itself. This is REALLY bad played, CA...

That's still 12GB smaller than the full download. I feel for you bro, where the hell do you live that you get such low internet connection? I know one guy that used to take his PC in his car to his mothers in the city once a month so he could use her broadband to download 4-5 games at a time lol.

That's the best joke: I live just outside of Munich, but the german Telekom is just full of monkeys. My best buddy only 4 houses away (same street) already had 100 MBit/s like 5 years ago. Our fast Internet connection literally breaks down halfway down the road. Unfortunately he moved away last year...

The point is, if I had bought the digital version, I would have started download yesterday and would already be playing...

P.S.: I just realized I missed a digit in the original post. My download is 10 MBit, not 1. Sorry for that, but still damn slow...

I have bad conncetion too. I try all morning to install warhammer with DVD installer, but CD2 don't start. My pc read CD1 CD3 and CD4 but not the second. I can only install this only via internet download...

I managed to get it to start installing from disc by using the run install command. But it's stopped at 17% and has been "unpacking" from the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ disc for the last hour and a half.

What the ♥♥♥♥ is going on here?

Sadly lots of companys are doing this now a days because of the whole DRM issue and the availability of faster internet. It's not just these Devs or Sega. It's been going on for at least a few years now for some games.

Believe I called up amazon on the day Fallout 4 was released. I bought the PC DVD version because like you, back then I had a .4 mbps connection. After installing 40% of the game, it then wanted me to download the other half. I called amazon raging saying that no where on their site or store page did it state that the disc would only be 50% of the game. If there is no disclaimer providing that information, you can get a full refund for the game. Don't send it back. Amazon dodges BILLIONS in tax, they don't need your $50

@Cordero the Steam activation itself should be enough for the DRM, I just really dont see the need of a freaking 13GB download...

same problem here, maybe the 4 discs dont provide enough space for all the gamefiles and they didn't want to make a 6 disc box? lol

i believe the 4 discs can't store the full game.

Each of them might be DVD9 (double-layer), so it is around 8gb (~32gb). And the game is asking 60gb. And i believe they compressed it to ~40gb.

Blu-ray on PC is not a thing, unfortunatelly. And it will never be.

Welcome to the current age of PC gaming. Most discs have less than what you get with TW:Warhammer 2. These days, most PC games give you discs with a 500mb Steam Installer with none of the game on the disc.

I don't know what you mean by "Blu-Ray on PC is not a thing", unless there's some licensing issues preventing Windows or Linux from unpacking data from them, Blu-Ray players for PCs do exist and can playback Blu-Ray movies.

It is not a thing cause it wont become popular like dvds have became for obvious reasons.

now everything is about streaming, cloud, download, buying something and having it right away, etc.

Typical for a total war game. I got TW:N and i had to download the whole thing, like seriously 2 disks in the case and i had to download like 25 or so gig of game, i bought the game back then at a store due to only having a 100gb monthly limit at the time or maybe less, i was less than happy about that one.

The disk wouldn't have the GBs of dlc and patches on it anyways, which you'd need to download to play.
