How strong is Durthu in the lore? (He won my AI contest)
I made 2 vs 1 with only lords where my lord was a spectator :) . I tried to set the values to equal which meant removing some abilities and I changed that in every round in a best of 3.

I removed a couple who wouldn´t stand a chance and to shorten time. 16 lords were contenders to start with in a knock out tournament.

I did this twice and in both tries Kholek faced Durthu in the finals, Durthu won both times but only due to morale, he simply ran away both times as they had roughly the same HP.

So, my question is ... how strong is Durthu really in the lore?

PS: YES YES!!! ... I know .. in the hands of players, skills etc. would have made for very different encounters. Thats another story however, I just wanted to know how strong they are innately in the game with the AI at the helm. (.. and I was bored, don´t tell anyone).

.... oooh .. and I did google, all I learned was that he was full hatred and where I can buy his figurine which costs a whoopin´ 60 dollars.

I think he's older than the elves (the race that is) in the lore and the older you are in fantasy the stronger you are (as it should be kiddies).

Canonically, Durthu is the magical superior of Slann, he's just constantly too angry to remember it / use his magic properly.

To put it in perspective, Durthu, as I understand it, could likely fight above and beyond the level of gods if he wasn't so consumed by his hatred. He's literally incapable of acting at his maximum efficiency. Which is why Kholek, who is possibly even his senior, just did not win. Durthu is, to put it lightly, a monstrousity of a tree.

He's pretty powerful...
he was one of the first elders to awaken in the forest of Athel Loren...
whenever a elder dies, their essence is absorbed by the remaining elders...
and he's one of the last two remaining...
so he has half of all the power that ever existed amongst the elders...
but after centuries of wars, and chaos ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥...
post dramatic stress has pretty much left him bonkers...
so he strolls around his part of the forest...
with a big ass sword...
pretty much a maniac...
killing any non-woodelves/treekin that tresspass...

He didn't use to be that powerful, but as the various Elders started dying off, the power that was held by the deceased was spread evenly through the remaining Elders. Pre End Times lore has two remaining Elders (I think), so there is a lot of power wrapped up in those two. Problem is, Durthu has seen so much pain and suffering befall his beloved Athel Loren that his rage cripples his mind and makes him unable to tap into that power properly.

Isnt the other Elder supposed to be ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ insane?

Your 'spectator' lord will be buffing the leadership etc of the side he's on, so can make a big difference to the outcome.

In my 1v1 testing Kholek came out top, Durthu second. See the link for full methods and results.

He is. Went a little nuts over the millenia as the Wood Elves incured more and more death upon Athel Loren. Spoiler Alert...Durthu kills him in the end times and becomes crazy strong, even compared to his power just prior to that action.

The lore of WH is written in such a way that every character is OP when they need to be. Every major character has the ability to defeat a whole army because they've been given so many powers and so much plot armor.

The "canon" last 2 fighting would probably be Archaeon vs. Grimgor.

A classic case is how high elves are definitely the bestest mages if you read HE lore but slann are definitely the bestest if you read lizardmen lore. Though reading between the lines there seems to be a grudging admission that nagash is and always will be no. 1.

I'd say Kroak was the most powerful of all time, with Nagash a close second. Most other Slann are in the third slot, but certain high elves (like Teclis) are pretty close to Slann level. Especially now that the Slann aren't nearly as powerful as they used to be.

Interesting.

Although if it were me, Id make 2 different contests. 1 with montrous lords and regular lords on montrous mounts.

And another with none of the montrous lords or mounts.

How does 'Dark' Tyrion fair? I'd have thought he'd be Top 4 for sure.

That might be the version you get in lizardmen army books. But in HE army books and indeed some flavour text in the game Teclis is above anyone except Nagash. The lizards don't even get a mention. There's not really a consistent ranking.

Lord Kroak unlike Nagash didn't need any help to come back from the dead, hell he was ripped appart by 12 Bloodthirsters imune to magic and still faught on during the great catastroph, While Nagash is powerfull the way Lord Kroaks last stand is descriebed isn't rely matched by the feats nagash has up his closet.

Don't confuse Lord Kroak and Mazdamundi. Mazzy's a stage magician compared to Kroak.
