Anyone ever played Myth: The Fallen Lords or Myth II: Soulblighter? If you have, which one is tactically better Myth or Total War?

Oh man I miss those games; they were so much fun! Them, and the original Ground Control, formed a really great sub-genre of RTS that's all but dead these days.

They're pretty different, but Myth probably had a higher skill ceiling. Battles in TW:WH are larger and the focus is on giant, grand, epic conflicts. You usually mash your front line infantry with the enemy front line infantry and spend your time microing your cavalry and artillery. It doesn't help that the AI is braindead and predictable, so unless you're playing multiplayer, tactics really aren't that needed. Multiplayer is much more chaotic, and good micro is often more important than good tactics.

Of course, I haven't played Myth since I was like 8 years old. It's likely Myth's AI was awful, too, and I just remember it being hard because I didn't really understand tactical thinking.

I tried Myth back in the day but I couldn't get into it. I'm sure they are truly bungie's best games though. Too bad games that require you to think to a degree will never be big sellers.

I loved those games, Total War has more tactical options, more units, more abilities.

Although using the Warlock in Myth requires some skill (leading the target manually), the same skill is required for catapults in Total Warhammer.

I know right. Myth was one of my favorite games. Although You're definititely right about Myth being pretty much dead now, i still find myself playing online in some old servers every now and then. Amazingly enough there's still some people playing it nowadays and even making some competitive PvP (but only true Myth fans though). So i decided to search for some more modern games that had a similar game mechanic as Myth had. Most things i found on Google pointed me to the TW series. I've had an overview of TW:WH on Youtube, but still didn't feel quite like Myth. I guess Real Time Tatics is really dead:steamsad:

I see what you saying. What i liked about Myth was that the game feel like an more advanced Chess game. Thanx for the reply. :sc_like:

Nowadays it's really difficult playing an old game, if you hadn't already played before back in the gold days. But i trully recomend playing it. :steamhappy:
