Will never understand how people consider advertisements such as this "important".
Regardless they have their own community hub in which they can spam these out for those who care enough.
Important announcements should be left to stuff like scam alerts, future changes being made to the client and current/ongoing bugs/glitches with the client.
Valve can easily add a SINGLE option to let users opt in/out of this spam as well so in the end Valve doesn't have a valid excuse.
