I found replacing the weapon on the prime is usually a huge improvement. The one it comes with is pretty awful, dealing less damage than some starting prime weapons when fully upgraded and having a big area of effects that looks good on paper but is often hard to position without pushing something into a building or otherwise ruining your day. However the team's ability to apply boost to all of their mechs fairly often means that prime weapons that were already good become phenomenal in their hands.
But maybe my brain hasn't wrapped itself around how to approach this team. Bomber, Mist, and Arach all seem to be much easier to get a 4 island hard win. Of maybe they just clicked with me.
I think that I like the Arach mechs the most.
To be clear, I'm not making a definitive statements or tier list, they could be awesome, I'm just having trouble seeing it.
Cataclysm feels like the strongest squad, though most of the squads are fun.
The one issue I have is that the dispersal mech's weapon can't push and damage the same target. It really, really, really feels like the ending tile of it's burst should shove.
they're super strong, and really fun to play. already bit the game on unfair with all island lengths with them. my favorite squad so far.
In a way I feel like they are the mirror opposite of bombermechs which has insane positioning ability but pathetic damage output for most of the game. Although I was able to perfect with bombermechs, I failed at island 3 with heatsink. Hopefully the next run I get a early prime weapon replacement.
You can find new weapons/abilities in pods that fall on the battlefield. The pod must be collected or left undamaged at the end of the battle.
After you complete an island, the store opens and some new weapons are available to buy using reputation points.
Finding the weapons you need is a matter of luck.

I suggest complementing their weaponry by either getting or buying something
either tanks, a laser weapon, wind turbine or something else.
Boosted (from fire) works great with lasers because it increases the *minimum* damage from 1 to 2.
The path of upgrade I took this time is as such:
Napalm max -> quick shot damage (no push) -> prime max
I find quick shot to be better off without that push as well, generally without push you can hit a vek in front of a building as well as another one at the field. After applying the push, a lot of the time I have to skip some shots. The napalm mech push is enough for most of the time.
