Major framerate drops, lag, etc. (FIXED)
I'm desperate to play this game but it's borderline unplayable at the moment.

Rig:
I5 6600K (OC)
GTX 1070
16gb RAM
SSD
1440p 165hz gsync monitor
Drivers up to date.

When Evan stands still the game will run at 105-120 fps, but when he moves everything slows to 20-30fps. Combat is the same, or worse depending on the number of enemies. The world map is a janky mess.

I've tried changing settings (borderless + unlocked, dropping quality etc), disabling vsync through nvidia control panel, disabling second monitor, etc, and nothing works. I can run AC: Origins on max at 65-70fps 1440p with no issues - it's painful that this game isn't working for me.

I reinstalled and moved the game to my ssd. still the same issue.

Even the character models in the menu lag.

Any ideas for a fix? Hopefully there's a patch coming?

I really want to play this on PC but I might have to refund and go for PS4 if there's no solution.

EDIT: changing the exe's CPU priority to high fixed my fps issue. Still have audio problems, but the game is playable now.

1) Open up Task Manager
2) Click the DETAILS tab
3) Right click Nino2.exe and set it's priority to HIGH

I'm now getting max frames!

a lot of ppl exp ♥♥♥♥. if you're in a rush to play then you could refund and do ps4 ver. Dunno if they'll fix this ♥♥♥♥, at least not this weekend

I have same issues

Changing priority in task manager didn't work for me either.

I'm using a second monitor*

I was able to fix it on my rig by using HDMI instead of DP cable. Wondering if this works for others?

Once I got to the Casino city my framerate dropped from about 40 or 45 to like 15-20 maybe 25 if I was lucky. Even after leaving the town and going to other areas the frame rate was still around 20. I updated my drivers and restarted and that seemed to fix it.

Haven't been back to Casino town yet to see if I have a better framerate there though. I tried all the stuff in this tread, but maybe my problem is different.
tried all the 'fixes' and still getting stuttering..

Windowed full screen fixed it for me, running at 1080 at 60 fps on at gtx950

Hi,

I have a good machine and I had the same low fps issues as well. I found out that Ni No Kuni 2 was using my integrated graphics card instead of my gtx1060.

I fixed this by going to Device Manager > Display Adaptors, here there are two graphics cards shown: an integrated graphics card (my one was called intel(R) HD Graphics 630) and my gtx1060. Right click on the integrated graphics card and click disable.

Now when I run my Ni No Kuni 2, it uses the correct GPU.

I hope this helps

THANK YOU. Been playing this game 100+ hours on my desktop and I'm away from home playing it on my laptop and was getting terrible framerates. This thing has a 1080, so there's NO WAY performance should be so bad. This didn't even cross my mind.

Wow, thanks a lot!!!

Playing on Alienware with two graphics card: one integrated and another GTX 1070. When I've stated (I've been playing now for 40+ hours) framerate was pretty bad - around 80-50 FPS and it was even worse on world map. Also was experiencing a lot of stuttering.

I was thinking my graphics card is not enough for smooth gameplay on max but I've tried now to disable integrated and...it's so much better now! Getting around 120-130 on all max and image is super smooth. All this time I was playing on damn integrated Intel graphics card :(((

In my opinion it's serious issue and it's still not fixed after 2 weeks....Now I'm very upset...Why developers are so lazy?

Thanks a lot, mate, finally this game is playable!!

This did it for me. Heaven and Hell difference. Thx hombre

FYI to all.

If you have used the method of setting high priority for Ni no Kuni on task manager. It may be worth while do this also.

I had similar issues with BF3 on release, It turns out the game was prioritizing CPU on board gphx over my GPU. Ensure you disable your on board gphx if you are having issues

EDIT: if you disable the onboard gphx, ensure yo set the ni no kuni cpu priority to real time. leaving on high causes stutter also

Unplugging my secondary monitor was the only thing that worked for me.

Then use my mod.

The "solution" in this thread is a complete placebo, there's zero reason that the thread governing framerate would benefit from having its priority boosted, considering Windows already does this for UI threads. The kind of person who solves these problems by raising priority is also the kind of person who probably created the problem in the first place by doing things they don't understand.

I have fixed numerous performance problems in this game, one of them being the monitor issue.

Thx Kaldaien, tonight I try and comment if it works your mod for my pc
DjMeas Apr 13, 2018 @ 10:57pm
I wouldn't say it's a placebo Kaldaien. When my framerate goes from 30fps to 144fps due to the priority increase, I can see it. I've never had to increase priority before and have not tampered with or OCed my CPU/GPU.

-edit-

I should say that it didn't increase my framerate, but rather stopped the STUTTERING (which made it feel like I was playing at 30fps).

I fixed mine... reset all CPU values back to default in BIOS. I've messed with it for overclocking...
