[Feedback] Valmont's Whip
Ok so we all now that this whip is rigged and unusuable and after doing some tests yesterday I think I can narrow down the main flaw:

I did several tests regarding the range and how to unlock it's full potential in a user-friendly way and I came to the conclusion that there is no user-friendly way...

That's right, it's plain and simply just bad.

I tried getting to the optimal range for the whip by utilizing the rolling mechanic.

Test 1: Move as close as possible to the enemy and do a full back-roll
Result: You are (about 1 player-width) too close to deal critical damage

Test 2: Move as close as possible to the enemy and do a full roll behind the enemy
Result: You are (again) too close to deal critical damage

The whips crit damage is a lot stronger than it's non-crit damage but the problem is you'll have a hard time finding it's sweet-spot especially because you always have to take some manual steps regardless of rolling.

Suggestion:

Rework the whip so that it deals different damage the further the enemy you hit is away from you (and optional remove it's critical damage). The closest range would deal the damage that the whip deals now while the furthest could deal (almost) it's current crit damage.

I am not sure how hard it would be to implement a mechanic like that but currently you either do (almost) zero damage or huge damage but there is no reliable way to deal huge damage.

Some may say 'git gud' which is absolute BS. I've got enough hours on record and the whip in it's current state is just trash. When trying to walk away from the enemy to get to the sweet-spot, the enemy is already on it's move, walking out of the sweet-spot.

So please Devs, give Valmont's Whip some love and rework it or do an easier approach by increasing it's base damage and/or it's attack speed or give it a small knockback so that the player would be able to push the enemy into the sweet spot.

Almost every weapon/skill that i didn't liked i tried to "learn it". AND ITS SUPER FUN when i suddenly have one less "bad" weapon and imagine that getting bad weapon is just much easier option then 20BaT5ZoMbIeS from a chest. And suddenly you are not getting bad weapon but you are getting away from a fight. And now imagine that a lot of ppl are using velmont whip JUST FINE, like you don't know most of player base and only devs could know how often velmont whip is taken and used through a level compared to other weapons. Like balanced blade is just plain boring-ish cos its just a weapon that doesn't have anything cool (like animations are cool, but comon) or you could argue that "most" ppl are not using shields cos range is just soo000OOOO much better, so lets delete shields :P and sucks to be someone that uses them.

Changing weapon that some ppl love just cos its hard and you can't use it (in a game that is supposed to be hard as F) is just BS.

This is exactly what's on my mind, just put in a shorter message than what I've just sent in General Discussions. I agree wholeheartedly.

Yeah I just understood this mindset, I think I'd flip my s h i t if someone nerfed or changed my beloved Assassin's dagger (Anyway that's exactly what happend to the Rapier and why I NEVER, EVER use it in ANY situation EVER) so I understand that some people don't want it changed it can just stay like it is most of the people just won't use it, but people that do use it will feel happy about it so I guess, just, leave it be....

But now i use it still cos its still kinda good (not as much but...) . Also i wonder if there will be moding for this game, like custom items or some stuff.

That would be freakin awesome something like what The binding of Isaac afterbirth + have atm. Skilled modders could really make awesome and funny thing with this.

Honestly, the only thing the whips really need, IMO, is the ability to cancel the animation via roll/shield/other weapon. (Well, maybe extend the Valmont crit spot just a little; I swear half the time I'm like 2 pixels too close/far) It's not that bad with the Wrenching Whip, since it's so much faster, but with Valmont's, you're a sitting duck. I mean, even the giant broadsword and sledgehammer don't leave you vulnerable for that long after the attack. Also, it would make dual whips a viable tactic.

Valmont's Whip really is a fantastic weapon once you get used to the range. Maybe not the most practical weapon in the game (you're usually better off with a really good sword or bow or something and just blenderizing everyone), but it can be lots of fun, and it's satisfying to land those devastating crits. Good for the more patient among us, although I can't say no to going ham with the Twin Daggers, either.

There is only one whip which auto-targets and it has bad dps to compliment this. Valmont's is the exact opposite of the weapon, slow and heavy burst which is risky and difficult to land.
