Japanese audio
SECOND UPDATE: The Japanese audio is available on the internet. Go to page 6 to find out where. Still would have been cool to have language options, but it's pretty much all good now.

UPDATE: Hey I thought this was fully voiced like Ys VIII but I'm wrong and dumb. Still would be cool to have the original audio, but I guess it isn't super necessary. I'm an idiot.

We could wait for a while, there are only a few audio files (188) and its hard to get them.
The joyoland game is free to download (legally) on their website but you can't lauch it (DRM with code). People on the discord don't seem too motivated to undub this because its only a matter of copy pasting anyway.

I guess I'll just mute the "voices"

One of the very few series with almost no dub. No dub would be Dragon Quest XI. Even in the upcoming Ys VIII, not much is voiced (but from what I heard there are more voiced passages than in any other Ys Game before). So, just for the sounds, I don't bother at all.

But OP just should have informed better. The release history of XSEED is, they always included just english voices for the PC-Versions. The Master source was always the PC-Version for the Falcom titles, they don't have dubs at all. XSEED included a few sounds from the dubbed PSP version to the PC-Version of Ys and Trails, but also, nothing too important here. I'm not the biggest fan of english dubs for japanese games, but the problem here is not worth the hassle.

It's not that I think Japanese > English categorically, but I prefer consuming media in their original language whenever possible.

Like every single person who asks for japanese audio. Seraphna just thinks we are all weaboo who'd play any game in japanese unless stated otherwise.

But I dont see the need to understand the language if its subbed.... subs are meant for that

You have the cutest way of trying to claim I think things I absolutely don’t think which also show you’ve never actually read any of my posts.

It's pretty ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥t to not include it in the release. When someone has a mod to fix the game by giving it the original audio please let me know. Thanks.
Fully voiced don't fall this game is Voiceless in events. Also ♥♥♥ version was also voiceless

I'm so happy XSEED has been including Japanese in their two most recent Falcom releases. It made me buy this at launch even though I won't be playing it until at least after VIII.

I wish they'd go back and update their older games with the Japanese scripts...

Considering how they're going back and adding features because people ask... not impossible?

It would be insteresting to know how much it would cost if the japanese dub could be added as dlc. Not that I am eager to have to pay for part of a game, but maybe as a middleground solution that could be a starting point to see if a solution could be found.

The dub may not be possible. Older Falcom games seem to have some kind of mired disagreement with Voice acting that’s just plain in the way.

The text though is likely an easy one.

I have JP voice in my YS Seven, It was actualy pretty simple to do. I asked the dev yesterday about making a guide but I won't be able to do so here.

Its like Seraphna says, its the voice contract that is stopping Xseed. They do not have the licensing to support it.
SureShot Aug 31, 2017 @ 11:54am
They're not allowed to endorse it, but I've seen people discuss and upload ways of putting in dual audio for previous games. As far as I know that's been allowed, unless someone can say differently.

Which folder corresponded to the voice files?

\Ys SEVEN\se y7se_0800.wav - y7se_0994.wav

The file structure is the same in the JP PSP directory. I had to convert the files to .wav cause in PSP they are .vag (a Sony proprietary sound file), and in the PSP the files are named slightly different (EX se y7se_800.vag - y7se_994.vag) so i had to add the "0" in all 186 files to match the XSEED version after i converted them.

I actually just did exactly that myself right before you posted, lol. Wasn't positive the se folder was correct until I started checking the later wav files. Converting it from vag to wav was simple enough using a program (the one I used seemed only let me do 480 at a time for some reason but no big deal). I was lazy and did them all without checking which were voices.

I think the annoying part was the rename as I had to google an easy way to do that. Fortunately, Windows Powershell was a tool that I didn't even know we had that made it easy to do if you followed a simple replace command.

Tested it and it seems to work fine -- easier than I thought it'd be.

I would believe it has a cost, not that it is impossibile. I was wondering what that cost may be, even if that cost was to be covered by customers (as a dlc). I believe that the owner of the license for the japanese dub wouldn't hate to make some money, it's probably the amont requested that was not feasible.

Trust me, I used to believe that too. However at this point I've found myself asking, "Do they not like making money?" Dozens of times when it comes to Japanese property rights negotiations. Sometimes, the answer actually really is, "No. They're not interested."

I kind of envy them :P
