How to bring in players from the bench

Hi, I'm new and having trouble getting all my players on the pitch. Currently, the game will populate the pitch with 9 players and then have 2 named player in a box on the top right. I can select on of those names and switch out a player all ready on the pitch, but then that player ends up off the pitch with his name in the box.

The "manual" is just a link to Bloodbowl tabletop rules, and I can find no resource for keybinding, commands, etc. that might help me with this issue. I love the game, but starting 2 players down when you have a full compliment is bumming me out.

What should be happening is that at the end of a drive any KO'd players have a chance to wake up and come back on the field. At this point any reserves needed to fill your fielded team up to 11 will also come out.

That said, I think that if you hire a star player for the match then you're still limited according to the star player's position. So if you have 4 ghouls in your roster, then hire a ghoul star player... that star player can't come out till your down a ghoul. Or if you hire an ogre star player but you already have an ogre hired onto your team the star player can't be fielded at the same time as your ogre.

Could be wrong though.

Unfortunately, it is happening even on the openning kick off. Guess I'll just mash buttons and see what that does. Thanks.

You might have players who are injured and can't play the match then. But I thought if you can't field 11 at kickoff you're granted merc linemen to fill out your roster?

I've played this game a lot and OP is completely right. It is not about star players or thin rosters. If you have plenty of players and you have one or more injured, then you can't fill the vacant spots with your rerserves. The reserves are listed up in the right side, but it is impossible to field them. In the Dark Elves edition, if I recall correctly, the reserves are standing in the endzone, ready to be placed on the field until you have finished your setup, but that is not the case here. After setup you have to click "yes" to fielding less than 11 players, and then substitutions are randomly placed on the field in legal positions to take the player count up to 11.
If this is a bug, like I guess it is, who do we tell, so it can be fixed?

I have this issue, the subs are missing and even after selecting a name on the right and clicking on the pitch to place them nothing happens. Most of the time the computer will add the worst possible players in inconvenient positions from the bench upon clicking accept less than 11. on one drive I distinctly recall only playing the drive with 9 men despite having 3 healthy subs.
