If you are attempting to register a key for in-game content and having trouble, please double check the instructions you received with the key to make sure it is redeemable on Steam. Often in-game items are redeemable within the game itself. If you continue to have issues please contact the original seller of the key for further assistance. For more information on retail CD keys, please read this FAQ.
This is the message I get from Steam when I go to support about the game and select the option for help with getting they key. I need this key because in my Ubisoft Connect account I don't have this game in my library despite that I paid for it in Steam. So if Steam were to provide the retail key, why then would that not be a means to validate ownership of the game via Steam if, like me, you're in a situation where you have the game on Steam but not on Ubisoft Connect? I bought this game a long time ago, but I have no idea what account it is linked to on the Ubisoft Connect side despite that I own it in Steam. This seems like this would make it so I could prove that I bought it to Ubisoft Connect who needs to know that for me to be able to play the game with Steam but Steam will NOT provide me the key for the game that I purchased.
Apologies for the late response.
If you are being prompted for an activation key then this can happen if you are logged into the wrong Ubisoft account whilst launching the game.
Or it could be that you need to redeem the activation key if one has been provided to you by Steam as this is sometimes the case with older games.
For more information please check the links below:

However, if there is no activation key available and you have not played the game before, then please try the following:
. Log out of Steam and Ubisoft Connect
. Then launch Steam and Ubisoft Connect with administrator rights - https://ubi.li/Wvn4L
. Then log back into Steam and Ubisoft Connect
. Close Ubisoft Connect but don't log out, then try launch the game from Steam
If you are still being prompted for an activation key after this then please create a support case:
