After Steam Update of yesterday, AC Origin does not start anymore
I played AC Origin for several weeks without problem on my PC. Yesterday, when I started the game I noticed an update message from Steam and after this the game did not start.
This has not changed anymore. When I start it (from desktop or via the Steam application) I see the starting process with with the introduction picture, but then the game crashes and I get only an option to send an error message to Uplay!
What did Steam do to my game?

Have you tried launching Uplay directly, just to see if it starts okay on its own? If I do that first, then launch the game, it usually starts right up.

When I start Uplay I see there my other games (AC III Remastered and AC Odyssey), but not AC Origin. When I start AC Odysssey it also crashes with the error message to Uplay. AC III Remastered still works, I can start it also from the desktop. Since the Steam update of yesterday AC Origin and AC Odyssey seem to be corrupted.
Also a deinstallation of AC Origin and reinstallation did not help.

It's really frustrating. Just the two games AC Origin and AC Odyssey do not start anymore after yesterday's update of STEAM! All my other games that I have under Steam (AC III Remastered, Rise of TR, Shadow of TR, Trainsimulator 2019, Aerofly FS 2) I can still start without problem.
...and after reading some of the many postings in the Steam Forum about problems with the starting of AC Origin by the numerous users I am not ready to try out the hundreds of suggested solutions. I wonder what Steam is saying about this (probably they suggest that I have to reinstall Windows 10).

Still same situation here. Tried everything I could find in the troubleshooting recommendations. Even deinstalled STEAM and UPLAY and all games in there. After new installation everything works under STEAM/UPLAY (Aerofly FS2, Trainsimulator 2020, Tomb Raider games, even Assassins Creed III remasterd, etc.) but Assassins Creed Origin and Odyssey do not start and show the "oh no crash" Message to Ubisoft. This happend beginning this week after a STEAM update. Before I could play both games with not problems.
Any further ideas? ...and yes, the 3D Antialiasing FXAA is off

Hey there,

If you are still experiencing issues, please reach out to our Support Team directly[support.ubisoft.com].

Yes, I now contacted Ubisoft support and entered a support ticket. Assume this will take some time to get an answer. By the way: Because I liked AC Origin, I now also bought AC Syndicate because I wanted to see whether this works. And indeed it starts without problem like many other games under Steam (see above), however AC Origin and AC Odyssey do not start (anymore). The starting crashes already before the epilepsy screen shows.

I still have no solution for the problem and the support ticket I placed is also no help.
I described exactly what I tried to solve the problem (reinstallation of STEAM and games, file checking according to troubleshooting manual, etc.), which unfortunately did not help. But I get from Ubisoft Suport exactly the recommendation to do this. Did they read my ticket at all?

TBH it's usually a bot, or a canned response, till at least the 2nd response.

Sorry to hear your uplay woes, that's a piece of junk code there. I do not have your problem, but always play SP games in steam offline mode, disable steam overlay, etc. as that is notorious for issues in many games I have at least.

Also if you have any mods installed take them out, I had a similar no start issue and uninstalling reshade solved it.

Syndicate and earlier are not like Origins or Odyssey, you may be disappointed, they will not play the same way, they are not open world or have similar rpg elements (tho Origins IMHO barely has rpg).

EDIT: saw your post in other thread, Let us know Walter! Pulling for you...

Did somebody found a solution yet?

For a number of months now I have had the same issue with both Origins and Odyssey. My work around is to shutdown Steam. Open UPlay and launch Origins from there (it will auto launch Steam). Messy but effective.

I'm wondering if it has more to do with Uplay launcher issues than Steam. I always have issues logging into UPlay and find myself having to launch UPlay offline before it logs me in. Login issue is what I'm saying.
