Here is a link to DDU. It explains what it is and does. It also has a guide. Make sure to follow it if unfamiliar. https://www.wagnardsoft.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=4387
You can also try DXVK. Which may help with the crashes as it has helped others. It converts the game to run Vulkan instead of DirectX. Here is link: https://github.com/doitsujin/dxvk/releases/tag/v2.1
Copy the following DLL's from the x64 folder to the Assassins's Creed game folder - d3d11.dll and dxgi.dll. Don't copy the Direct3D9 and 10 DLL's - this results in the game not starting up.
See if those suggestions help.
Also, please post your full system specs when asking for tech help. It will help the community and Ubisoft support give you better suggestions and things to try.
For example. If you have a NVIDIA GPU I would tell you to do not use display driver 531.18 or later. As there is an issue that directly affects Origins with crashes and has not been resolved. So others have reported sticking with 528.49 and can play the game again.
Lastly, If you are still using Win 7 it is no longer supported. You have to find workarounds. I am not sure if they still work, but here are some links to help guide you in the right direction.

528.49 is the one you want. It's not complicated, promise.
When will people wake up?
