Sorry to break it down for you, but this is mostly Ubi$oft's fault. They've changed their former and initially UPlay launcher/store into their current version of it, which is Ubi$oft Connect[ubisoftconnect.com] (around 2020). Therefore, as the game developer they were the ones that had the responsabillity to properly update their getting sold bundles with and also to porperly patch all the existing ones that were sold, either through Steam (which is merely a reseller upon this matter) as well as they should've done it through Ubi$oft Connect.
I'm also not an English native speaker but the next time before making assumptions like you did from my previous post upon that thread, at least be humble enough to ask to clear any lingering doubts.
And yet several titles including Assassins Creed IV sold here on Steam have been packaged with the correct launcher, Ubisoft Connect. Regardless of your efforts to provide a 'workable' solution, your argument with regards to why players have been wrought with this ongoing problem makes no sense whatsoever. Unless you're a Steam developer masquerading as an every forum member.
That's mostly because you haven't been following the Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag's (AC IV:BF's) so called 'update' from the last 4th of July from Ubi$oft that broke the game's fullscreen capabillity and it was the community that had to find a solution for it. If you even care to search upon those forum sections I've even had a Ubi$oft's Support ticket open for nearly a month without a reply from their behalf and when replaying AC IV:BF I still relly upon the community's solution instead of the non-existant one from Ubi$oft.
Perhaps they've fixed the launcher/store links form inside the sold packages to now use Ubi$oft Connect instead of the former UPlay but it still rather callous to not generalize such an update throughout their entire games' franchises and not merely doing it upon a few AC titles. That's a mere and complete display of lacking professionalism when handling these matters.
And just for the record, I'm just another regular Steam forums user... or else my name would be coloured either in orange or yellow. Not sure of which is which, nor it's slightly essential to know for this wild accusation of yours.
What is the exact problem you are having?
Try to install and run Proton as an alternative. I've read and heard several good things about it properly handling quite a few games, including other Assassin's Creed' ([/i]AC's[/i]) titles, and thus circumventing the Linux related OS' restrictions.
Just to include that Ubisoft Connect has been packaged with this game for awhile now.

If you are having issues with the launcher and for whatever reason are showing earlier version on your system. I would full uninstall Ubisoft launcher/s. Whichever one you have installed. Than manually delete each left over folder.
This should clean it out. Than, DL latest from Ubisoft and install again. Do not launch it or sign in. Launch the game first and than it should update and ask you for credentials. Sign in than. As there are actually 2 different versions of Ubisoft connect.
If you launch the client on its own. You will have full use and will see Ubisoft's store. However, if you launch the client by starting a Steam game first. You will no longer see the Ubisoft Store.
This is to avoid any conflicts and prevent Steam users from buying Ubisoft Connect only DLC/games.
It is really dumb how they have their DRM setup, but thats how they do it. So far I have never had an issue with Uplay, and now Ubisoft Connect.
I would also check to see if your router is the cause. Change MTU to 1452. See if that helps if its not working properly.
VPN's can also sometimes interfere.

The correct launcher is already provided with the game. As shown in the above link. Its just doesnt natively support Linux. No current Ubisoft games do. Their PC game requirements [www.ubisoft.com]show Windows, not Linux. So you need to find work arounds if that is what you are using.
It is up you to know the requirements. As also listed on the steam store page. If they dont support Linux, and state this. There is nothing to resolve.
If you buy a game that doesnt natively support Linux and both Ubisoft and Steam illustrate that. Well, that is on you. As you know there will than need to be extra steps in order to get game to work. If you dont want to take those extra steps to get a Linux version to work. Than stop buying games with no native support.
Its also not on Valve to make developers package certain things with their games. So they have nothing to do with your complaint.
However, sometimes Valve will fix some things for Proton/SteamOS that will make the unofficial Linux UC work again.
Lastly, check the articles over at gaming on Linux, and their forums. You will probably find better support there. Last update for UC on Linux was in October. They usually pretty quick with these fixes so if there were any current issues it would be posted. As seen thru the many articles in 2023 with proton updates fixing UC.

"Fixed Ubisoft Connect not working after its recent update.
Lol, what? Valve has nothing to do with this. They even support Linux. Yet you will boycott them too for something thats not their fault? Oh boy. Ok bye!
