Help with Naval Combat

I am struggling with the controls on the naval combat with the big ship. I made it through the first section with small ships but now am faced with a tougher opponent. I am using the keyboard and mouse (although I've used an XBox controller for the rest of the game - it feels awkward in this scene).
I use the space key to brace, the F key to fire bomb. I hold the left mouse button down to aim and hit the right mouse for fire arrows. I can't seem to find the key combination for the catapult.
I'm loving this game but this section has got me very confused. Any pointers would be helpful. I did watch some You Tube videos on strategy but the controls are getting in my way.
Thanks in advance... Also, how many more scenes like this do I have to 'look forward' to??

there are 3 ship battles. And yes they are not realy "fun" ^^.

Thanks... I decided to take a break and play Odyssey. Will come back to do battle by sea when I am a bit more optimistic about my chances :-)

Figured out the controls and I am at an impasse After more tries than I can count, I am still not past the final naval battle with the big ship. It is incredibly frustrating because I just want to get back on dry land and play the rest of the game and the DLC. I'd be willing to pay somebody to play out this scene for me but the save files are user-account dependent so that is not even an option. Okay... enough whining from me... just had to vent.

I recall relying heavily on the brace -> counter (and, often, brace immediately because another volley was already inbound) mechanic.
