Assassin's Creed Origins

[Spoiler] The stories in this game are boring as hell
I finished the main story (I think) in Ubisoft's platform, not here in Steam, and I'm glad the game is finally over. Perhaps I will play a bit more to uncover the secret beneath the sphinx, and perhaps some other First Civilization ruins, if there are more. That's basically the only curiosity I have left

The game is absolutely beautiful, the map is huge, and the accuracy of the time period it represents is quite high (I guess), however, they don't know how to make interesting stories to fill that enormous map

The main story is your typical revenge arc, which gets extended by a lot several times, and becomes boring after a while. In fact, if I had to kill half the amount of targets, I guess that my opinion still would be negative. There were a few moments when the story appeared to become more epic, but nah, it was just pretty vanilla

And the sidequests... most of the time I didn't care about the people I encountered. I didn't have any time or motivation to care about the screaming bunch that requested me to do this or that right after meeting them for first time

Or perhaps I'm too sour to enjoy games, but I think Ubisoft lost its touch after the first two Assasins Creeds

Ubisoft has decided to go assembly line with their games. No passion. No soul.

Ghost of tsushima took 6 years to make. God of War took 5 years. Red dead 2 took 8 years.

Ubisoft made 3 huge open world games in the same timeperiod those other companies produced a single game. No matter how good you are as an artist or programmer or storywriter there is only so much you can do when you got a pretty tough deadline to work.

Imagine you need to fill this giant world with storied but you got only a short limit of time. What can you do.

Ubisoft has the money and the people to do the most amazing games but they decide to go the money path. It's just depressing if you think about it.

Assassins Creed never had and never needed an AMAZING storyline or whatsoever.
It is simply about the gameplay.
I mean lets take AC2, the people's favourite, for example. Did it have a groundbreaking storyline or characters? I'd say: not really.
Many historic "elements" in a meaningful context put together. Davinci was a very cool side character, and Ezio also was a nice character, but the rest?
And now Origins, I honestly don't see much of a difference here. If anything the main character makes it feel even more emotional.
All things aside, I found this game to be the most atmospheric from all the titles I've played.

Totally agree

AC2 still had an interesting story that played with the same concept as the The Davinci's Code. The concept of the alien civilization was barely scratched in the first game, and then the conspiracy elements around the secrets that were relevant from the contemporary point of view in AC2

They should have closed the story in the third game, instead of extending it. Now the first civilization is just another common element in this universe. And I couldn't care less about the assassins and the templars and their problems.

And the conspiracy element is mostly gone in AC Origins.

Yeah I think they didn't plan on extending the story of the first civ. that far, but they somehow had to come up with something for Origins - not very brilliant storywriting - but I don't think it had that much of an impact on the story.
But I see your point.
