Just A Small Detail I Want To Share
I would like to share this small experience with you all. Last night, I was playing AC Origins as usual and was strolling around near a marketplace at random when suddenly I heard a cat at a distance. After looking around, I spotted the cat. I came close to the cat and the cat noticed me. For curiosity's sake, I crouched down near the cat to see if Bayek would interact with the cat in any way. To my shock, I actually witnessed Bayek interact and pet the cat and it was all fully animated. Not only that, after I pet the cat, it started following me around all through the marketplace and "meowing" all the way. I thought about feeding the cat some fish or something but as far as I know there's no food mechanics in the game so couldn't do it :( Finally, I said my farewell to the cat and went along another place.

The main point of this story is that...we've all heard how immersive the world of AC Origins is and how filled with the tiniest of details the game possesses. But this...I've never excepted this. I don't think there's any other games out there that is filled with this much fine details in an open world video game. These are the kind of things that makes AC Origins great and shows how hard and dedicated the director Ashfar Ishmael and his dev team has worked on this game. Really fine job guys. You deserve all the love and support.

Here's a screenshot of my interaction with said cat...

Yeah, they showed it during gameplay demos too, before the game was out, dogs too.

If you stand still for long enough, Senu will also land on your arm and you can press the action button to feed/pet him.

Awsmmmm. I'm playing this game cold meaning didn't watch any gameplay footage or anything to avoid all kinds of spoilers. So I'm discovering these things myself now. Its really freaking cool you can do these things.

This is not the first AC game that allows you to pet animals. There are a few in fact that allow this. In AC3 for example you can pet dogs and pigs for and others..

Walk through a field of grass and watch Bayek's free hand...

Yea already noticed that he gently rubs against the grass field. Very cool. Small interactions like these with the player character makes the game all the more immersive. Other open world games or games in general could take a hint from AC Origins.

wow I haven't noticed that, thanks for writing this down.

Nice to hear you're enjoying all of the subtle details in the game, GrimReaper 𐌀𐌋𐠨𐌀. Nice job on managing to avoid any spoilers and footage as well. I kind of wish I could go back and take it all in for the first time again now. Enjoy!

wow, I did not know that you actually have to wait for the petting animation to happen. gotta try this at the cat village area

I could never get Bayek to pet one of the cats if it was walking, standing, or sitting. The cat had to be lying down.. Not sure if that's changed or not.

Under the right circumstances, you can have a whole herd of cats following you around. As long as you don't get too far away from them, they just keep following you. I've had some follow me for miles around the countryside if I strolled leisurely.

My kitty entourage:

They even hang around, waiting for you to get done with all your killing and looting..

They even modeled the night sky after the real sky; something that gets overlooked a LOT in games. Trust me, I notice..

Light a small fire in a wood and reed structure, and soon, the whole thing will be burning..

And some artist programming genius decided to render water with refractive and reflective qualities that change, based on viewing angle.. Bloody brilliant!
Water from overhead is "clearer" and you can see the bottom much easier..

than say, from a lower angle where surface reflection stops light from beneath the surface from showing through as well..

One of my favorite pics, just because:

This game is easily my favorite of all time now. It is phenomenal, the job the devs did, and I can't even comprehend the level of manpower it took to create this masterpiece. It's stunning.

OMG LOL That cat thing is really funny and awsm. Finally we can have our own cat army in an AC game :steammocking: But yea, the other details that you've showed as well as who knows how many other cool details...this is what an open world game should be like. AC Origins is the result of 10 years culmination of hard work and experience of making all the other AC games combined. They had to nail this game at their 10th anniversary of AC franchise and they did superbly.

I've actually known about this way before release but it's pretty cool they put things like this into the game.
