is there any point to doing this or is it a skip it until you pass the game type thing.

If you're interested in the history of the events and locations that inspired the game, sure. Also, if you're wanting all of the achievements, some are unlocked using the Discovery Tour mode.

The discovery tour is for educational purposes only. It's for people who want to learn some history of ancient Egypt. I heard some schools even used the tour in their history classes?

It's an interesting little side diversion with some educational benefit. I found it highly interesting.

For an achievement called "First Visit" I believe.

I'm having a great time with the discovery tour after completing the main story. I highly recommend it. It provides a lot of interesting facts about the ancient Egypt and it allows to appreciate the game development and attention to detail even more.

BTW are there some known secrets in this mode? Sometimes I can find white circles (that can be interact with) but I'm not really sure what is their purpose.

IIRC, those are little "action" circles that you can interact with so your character will start performing whatever idle movements are associated with it. It's a way for your character to do some common interactions in the world.

How do I find them? Because it seems that they aren't always located directly on the tour path.

I'm not 100% sure, but I seem to remember finding them everywhere. It's been a long time tho. I can check later and see, though.

I’ve found this video:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HVZJQ2A7EE8

Here (1:33) it says that they can be found on the map and - what's interesting - there are different interaction circles for different character you play the tour.

Thanks for your offer though.
