Play as you like though. The main missions are done in order and will send you to different parts of the map.
Also, the main story will take you to 90% of the map areas, so sometimes the side quests you encounter there may lack some context until later on in the story.
Side quests in the top-left corner of the map (the highest-level areas) contain major spoilers of the main story if you pay close attention to some of the dialogues (can reveal who the main villain is).
I must say i am enjoying odyssey more than origins. Especially now with the naval part being back like in black flag. Not sure if its as in depth but fun to play again. Graphics are about the same but still looks just as good.
The newly added region mechanic is fun too. If you lower the power of the region you can start a war. Pretty fun being in big battles like that. So far I def like!
Have played both games to 100% and liked Odyssey better.
You can access all regions when you're done in Siwa but pay careful attention to the level of each region and if you're in a dangerous region, use Senu to scout the level of your enemies before you engage them. Be especially careful of mounted enemies because they can be impossible to out-run and can kill you quickly with their arrows.
Actually Senu is good to safely explore areas if you're just having a look around. The pyramids are pretty cool to fly-over even if you're not ready for Giza yet.
And you can handle enemies a few levels above if you're on a mount. Get the slowest weapon you can find and joust with them. Keep riding in circles while you charge up the heavy attack and then swoop in, smite them, and ride out of reach. This technique is also useful for hunting because you can chase your prey but works better with a standard sword.
I found mounted combat essential for Phylakes (when it happens, you'll know).
Siwa has some really dangerous neighbours, but it sounds like you've hit Alexandria which is in an area which is pretty safe to wander.
Definitely, definitely, do not miss Odyssey. I thought Origins was the best AC but Odyssey is much better, still. The music, sailing and general mechanics reminded me a lot of Witcher 3, which is pretty high praise.
a lot of side quests send you at same location as main quests.
This game is very open after the tutorial style opening. You should look at the levels of the areas you go to. If you're under leveled you will get killed quite easily. In a new area take some time to find and unlock the synchronization points to unfog the map and to give you quick travel options. This also ranks up Senu your extremely useful eagle scout. Definitely do side quests, as many as you like. Some of them are fantastic, others are more fetch and carry. There will be a lot of question marks on the map. It is worth it to explore and find out what they are (no spoilers, but some give VERY good rewards and are always worth doing). Don't feel obliged to clear out every fort or hyena den though as you might get burnt out.
The game is epic in both scale and story. For this OG AC fan I think it's too big (same with Odyssey) so that's why I mentioned about not trying to do absolutely every question mark. This game must be hellish for completionists.
Have fun with it. It's almost as good as AC4.
OMG, Odyssey was a killer for completionists. It was supposed to be released about a month after Fallout 76, which I was also looking forward to, but F76 got delayed, so I played Odyssey first. Eventually, after a couple of months I had to stop playing, not because I'd finished, or was getting tired of it, but because I was desperate to play F76.
