I know nothing about the series, can I start here?
I heard about this game a lot and I think it's time to try it out, but will it make any sense if I played this without playing the previous ones?
and then after that I may play Odyssey, am I in the right way?

I asked because I really don't like to play old games (2013 and older) and I would like to understand the story

Yes, the games in the series before this one are trash. You don't need to know anything about them. These games all take place at different points in history so their stories are all self contained and you could start with whichever one you want. This is also a very great game you are sure to enjoy.

afaik AC: Origins is the first game in a true open world setting. Older AC games aren't trash at all. I prefer the Origins+ (Layla) serie though.

I am replaying it after finishing Valhalla and really enjoying it. It is a solid story with amazing world.

Well, this is technically what inspired Old Hassan to build the entire group of modern assassins. 'Modern' as in after B.C.

Not a huge AC fan, but I preferred Odyssey to Origins. Only other one I played was Black Flag, that was okay, but I never even finished it.

I kinda disagree with the first comment above. The games prior to origins are not trash but their engines are outdated by far

This game is the real ♥♥♥♥ gameplay and story-wise. The only redeeming factor is the graphics and being the mechanical foundation for Odyssey. Also you won't learn anything about the old games, they don't connect at all. I highly suggest you to play AC2 and Brotherhood if you want to learn about the original lore, they really give a different taste. But if you still don't want to; just go watch some videos, don't bother with this boring game and start with Odyssey. They really polished it and made it actually fun.

Odyssey doesn't deserve to be called an Assassin's Creed game. You're barely playing as an Assassin there.

Don't listen to that guy. Origins is the best among the 3 newest games.

thank you all, I purchased Origins yesterday and will try it, if I liked it enough I'll play the next one; Odyssey, if not, then I'll just stop here
my question was if it's possible to play Origins without knowing anything about the series.. and since the older games aren't connected then I guess I'll play this one

Basically just play from Origins, then continue to Odyssey until Valhalla. It's as intended.

yes, that's exactly what I will do
thanks
