I'm genuinely curious as to why you believe the stealth and ranged combat to be better in Origins. I mean, they're almost identical in both games. Ok, so we get reduced from four bow types to just one in Odyssey, so I can see why Origins suits someone who likes ranged combat.

But the stealth is the same... you can stealth an entire fort just as well in both games. If anything, Odyssey gives you a couple more stealth tools for the purpose rather than offering less. My entire first playthrough, I made a point of stealthing nearly every location I came across. Combat is always a choice rather than a necessity in both games.

You did remind me that I failed to mention the combat in my mini-review though! Aside from the elemental weapon rubbish, I again prefer Odyssey. As the later game it feels like they honed the combat to make it slightly more fluid and satisfying. I prefer the weapon types in Origins though. I feel like all the types have their own advantages in that game, whereas in Odyssey most of them feel like "downgrades" from the basic sword.

its game design, the game design, missions and assassin missions are built more for stealth in mind. Also the unlock system for stealth abilities are much better in origins. sleeping darts, those darts that get animals to follow you around. Getting a croc to follow into a bandit camp as ur ally and then let it go to town for ur distraction, while you stealth about doing ur thing. It just was designed better for stealth in mind. Also you actually had a proper assassin blade woven into the storyline ext, and you could actually assassinate main targets in 1 shot, unlike in odyssey where trying to same thing leaves them with health left, which kinda sux for stealth. And coming back to the bow, because you the bows were just better, more choice, ext, it was part of ur tools for stealth.
Round it all up with outfits in origins that actually felt assassin like. The amount of times im running around in full plate armor looking like a gladiator in odyssey, just took me out of that beeing a ghost like assassin.

have you guys seen the clip of the dude shooting arrows past an enemies head from behind in valhalla and he doesnt even notice the arrow whizzing past his ear, compared to origins where they actually notice if you shoot an arrow 3 centimeters past their head? pretty funny and sad

yeh stealth is complete garbage in valhalla, sad really. its like it just go worse each game. i think its actually bugged though in valhalla, but i doubt there ever bother fixing it.

Good to know... I won't bother with Valhalla then! Thanks for the heads-up guys. Vikings have been way overdone in recent times so that setting doesn't even appeal to me anyway.

To be honest though, I lost interest in the AC series after Brotherhood... 12 years ago. (Doesn't seem so long ago...) Only bought Odyssey on impulse when it was massively discounted (like £5 or something), because I liked the setting. I was surprised to find I really enjoyed it, so did the same with Origins when it just as cheap. Despite preferring Odyssey, Origins is still a good game which I'm enjoying a lot.
