All current TV's claiming to be HDR are not. For HDR minimal 1000 nits is required. Current equiment only does 400 nits.
http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-2017-lg-oled-b6-4k-tv-review. But the true black makes the trick in low light condition.
When i watch a hdr movie in a dark room this is already too much and hurting the eyes, so i lower the max value a bit . The needed improvement is for daylight viewing where lcd are better atm (above 1000nits already)
Thanks.
I do also have an LG HDR oled tv (E6).
Also have the recommended drivers, hardware (1080ti) and software (Win10).
But, for some reason, my TV does not show the HDR icon when I set the option on the AC menu, although the image quality does improve a bit.
Would you have a guess what must be happening?
Thanks a lot for your post and for your help.
check thet you have set your graphics card in 10 bits 4:4:4 Yuv output, and connect it directly to the TV. On the LG paramaters /display , you can check also that the mode is set to HDR standard or HDR game. If you select "info" button on the lg remote , you should see BT2020 as the color range.
in the LG general panel you have also to verify that hdmi input accept deep color, the name of the menu is GEneral > HDMI ultra HD deep color . You have to restart the tv after changing this setting.
My NVIDIA Control Panel was set to RGB 4:4:4.
Changed to 4:2:2 YUV and voila (so french lol)
Thanks again.
Thanks anyway!
/Cheers
Your TV does support 4:4:4 in HDR 4K. How ever due to bandwitdh limitation on the HDMI cable atm it will only support 4:4:4 at 30hz in HDR.
Took me quite a while to figure out!
Windows 10, GTX980ti, LG Oled 55 B7V
Ingame HDR settings 1000/150, graphics maxed out at 1080P, brightness at default 50.
TV settings is pretty standard for HDR but I have contrast at 75 and all settings that can be turned off, -off
Mate, i need youre help please!
I have a 55B7D OLED and a 1080 Ti so playin in 4k
If i enable your Settings HDR works, but: colors went greenish and the light of the sky is flashing my eyes, all lightinig is much to bright :(
I dont know what is wrong, if used almost the same settings as you... dont have any trouble with ME:A, CoC WWII or Resi 7, all these games deliver a perfect HDR.
But AC:O hurt my eyes to much... do have any suggestions what could be wrong?
EDIT:
Strange...and one more time i hate HDR and Win10 ....they totaly borked that!
I ve set desktop to 1080p 60Hz
Started AC:O set it to 1080p 60Hz with HDR which also kicked in.. now i ve got a real HDR Picture! Yea \o/
Now i ve changed ingame 4k 60Hz HDR and it is still working!!! If i change back destop to 4k and game to 4k, HDR is broken.. holy crap!!!
EDIT 2:
it becomes more strange but might help others:
what caused this issue?
I have also two devices connected to my nvidia Card:
- one for picture direct to TV
- one for Audio just to AV
But:
HDMI 1 to TV: 2160p
HDMI 2 to AV: 1080p
After i set also the HDMI 2 to my AV to 2160p, the issue with over brightness was gone :)
I cant understand that and i am confused due to other games did not have any problem with this setup and sending correct HDR.
Then start your game up.
Worked for me, I had the same problem as you.
Let us know if it worked :)
as i edited:
HDMI 1 to TV: 2160p
HDMI 2 to AV: 1080p
After i set also the HDMI 2 to my AV to 2160p, the issue with over brightness was gone :)
And: No idea why it behaves like that, strange indeed
