Both Steam and Uplay??
So I bought this here on steam and now I need both steam and uplay open to play. Is there no way to just run uplay or just steam to save on resources?

If I had purchased directly off uplay, would I still have needed both clients? This is kind of a dumb requirement...

Nope. It's because of DRM. You'll just have to deal with it, which, I know, sucks. If you were to buy it directly from Uplay, then you'd only need Uplay. You can always just refund the Steam version, and just buy it from Uplay, though, if you don't wanna deal with Steam.

Uplay is cool, it adds some interesting features to the game, don't worry, it won't hurt.

Doesn't it just run Uplay if you launch it from Uplay?

You meant Uplay. *If you bought the game from Steam, then you're still going to need Uplay to play the game.

Ummm... no? That's not what I meant. Did you read what the guy I replied to, said?

Hm... he made many questions, aha.

Ok, so:
Bought on Uplay: Only Uplay
Bought on Steam: Steam and Uplay.
There.

As simple as DSD27 stated.

I don't understand why some people moan about using two clients, what is the big deal? What does that even matter...
Personally I prefer having both clients to not having the game on steam.

Seriously? Assassin's Creed is a Ubisoft game (Uplay)

The probelem they don't need to. Their platform is annoying and crap. I got a couple Uplay games in the past, and I simply choose to not buy their games until uplay goes away. It was clunky, it would disconnect me and kick me out of games, I remember for HoMM6 if you lost connection to uplay mid battle it would kick you out and not save.

Uplay isn't a client in the sense that it provides a game spac for you... Its a client in the sense it calls you too much, takes you away from your playing so you can browse DLC and marketing.

*disclaimer*
Its been years since I installed it, and I'm well aware they could have fixed a lot of that, but my faith that i can enjoy this game is seriously challenged by thier software.
I am also very against this large datamining trend in business, and its pretty obvious the only benefit of uplay is data capture.

Using UPlay for UbiSoft-purchase games and using Steam for Steam-purchased games.

Cannot understand all the cackling over such, as I have had zero issues and I use both clients a few times a day, at least.

Just gratful I do not have to use Origin as that one seems to be more of a pain.

Anyone remember a really horrible client called StormPowered used by a publisher called Storm Eagle Studios? You think UPlay is bad then you have seen nothing. I will not even link to their website as the whole thing was so evil.

I suspect the webstore is on automatic for 99% of the time and no-one actually oversees it on a regular basis.

Seriously, half the time it would not connect or you would not be able to play let alone download your games. And support.. what support!!. It seemed the least then hospitable support had a turn around of a few months for customer issues if anyone even bothered.

UPlay is an angel compared to it.

I don't mind using uplay, it's just annoying to launch steam along with it to play. Ah well...

You should be launching steam first, because the game is on your steam not uplay. Don't let Uplay startup with windows, don't manually open Uplay. Launch the game through Steam, Uplay will automatically open, minimized and in a "smaller mode" mode, you won't even notice that it's there.
