ULTIMATE GUIDE FOR STABLE FPS FOR AC ORIGINS
*****INTRO*****

Before i start this, i want to apologize for my not so decent english, i am from Latvia. I have ben playing this game for 4 days now and i can see that there is a problem with stable gameplay becouse of the cpu usage that is 95-100% in dense areas . No matter what kind of pc you have the game will drop to 45- 55 fps in towns like Alexandria etc. In this guide i will show you, how i got stable enough performance without decreasing the graphics quality with a huge diffrence. Lets be honest the game still looks good on medium to high settings.

**My own personal rig**
CPU: i5 7600k stock
RAM: 16GB of DDR4 2400mhz
GPU: Gigabyte 1060 6gb G1 overclocked (i don't suggest you play this game with lower cards)
Motherboard: Gigabye B250-HD3P
HDD: 1TB (where my game is located at)
SSD: 128GB Samsung EVO
PSU: 500W
OS: Windows 10 Pro 64bit

**STEP 1**
Okay first of all there is a video on youtube made by Panjno
Its for windows 10 users. if you are using older windows then i suggest you upgrade.
The video is about optimizing your windows 10 for gaming
You can watch it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SaYbFmB2rDw
Its safe to do anything he does. Just listen to what he says carefully.
I have done it lots of times.

**STEP 2**
After you have optimized your windows 10 by watching the video i will give the best settings for performance and graphics quality.

UNDER DISPLAY SETTINGS
Brightnes: what ever you want.
Window mode: Fullscreen
Active monitor: The monitor you want your game to display on.
Aspect ratio: Natvie
Resslution: Natvie
Resolution modifier:100%
Refresh rate: Natvie
Vsync: off (IMPORTANT)
Field of Wiev: i suggest you leave it at 110%
FPS Limit: 60

UNDER GRAPHICS SETTINGS
Graphics Quality: Custom
Dynamic Resolution: Off
Anti-Aliasing: Low
Shadows: Very Low (if you think this is bad, think about how shadows look in real life. They dont have solid lines. And it looks good how the shadows are shimmering on walls.)
Enviroment Details: Medium (IMPORTANT)
Texture details: HIgh Ofcourse
Tessellation: Very High
Terrain: High. everyone loves nice LOD's
Clutter: Medium (IMPORTANT)
Fog: Medium. You will not spot the diffrence.
Water: Very High
Screen Space Reflections:High
Volumetric Clouds: off. they cost fps and look low res imo.

CHARACTERS
Tecture details: High obviusly, you cant let bayek look low res.
Character: Very low (IMPORTANT) this is one of the main things that make your game use alot of CPU in towns. And you will not spot the diffrence.

POSTPROCESSING
Ambient occlusion: High. It looks bad without it.
Depth of Field: On

**STEP 3**
Now comes the main optimization that is not ingame.

For NVIDIA users
1.Go to desktop and open your Nvidia control panel.
2.Under 3D settings go to Manage 3D settings.
3.Press program settings.
4.Select program to customize
5.In drop down menu find AC:O (if its not there press Add and find it in your pc)
Now leave everything as it is but ONLY change these settings.
Antialiasing - FXAA: OFF
Maximum pre-rendered frames: 1
Power managment mode: Prefer maximum performance
Texture filtering - Negative LOD bias: Clamp (this was a fix for ac unity aswel becouse of the high cpu usage)
Threaded optimization: On
Triple buffering: On

**STEP 4**
Becouse of nvidia control panel, there is not all of the options, you will have to download Nvidia Inspector.
You can get it here http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/nvidia-profile-inspector-download.html
After you extract it anywhere, open it.

1. Where you see Driver version, there will be little wrench on the right side, press that.
2. It will open big log. Where it says Profiles: start writing assassi... and there should be option for Origins.
3. Leave every settings as is ONLY change
Frame Rate Limiter: 59 (this is soo when it drops to lower fps in towns its not going to be as painful if it goes back to 60. You can try putting 58 there if you cant see the diffrence between 60 and 58
4. Find Frame Rate Limiter 2 control and make sure is set to 0x00000000
5. Press Apply changes.

**STEP 5**
If you have the game shortcut on your desktop.
1. Right click on it and press properties and the Compatibility tab.
2. Tick override high DPI scaling Behavior. and choose Scaling performed by (Application) in drop down menu.
3.Tick Disable fullscreen optimizations.
4. And tick Run this program as an administrator.

**STEP 6**
After all that there are just minor things.
1.Google ''ccleaner'' download that and run it.
2. I use advanced system care it does even more than ccleaner and it has built in app for Updating all of your drivers.
3. That reminds me. Update drivers like GPU and BIOS. I am not responsible for anything that goes wrong in case of bios failure.
4. Google ''Unpark CPU app" and unpark your cpu cores.
5. Ingame do not use programs like riva tuner. On this game it makes the game unstable.

That is pretty much all. I will edit and add if i learn of new things to do to make this game play smoother.
I hope you will appreciate my hard work.

Not a bad guide. Followed it and the results are quite acceptable.

Nice FPS on a i5-6600K O/C 4.4GHz and GTX 970 @ 1080p max settings. Graphics still look very nice.

Only addition was to raise the 'priority' of the AC:O process to 'above normal'.

Thanks for posting that. I left the priority to normal as it was issue before some patches becouse it would set it self to high priority.

Didn't work at all and i have a similar setup. The game is just broken, optimization-wise. Ubisoft and their ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ once again

did not use the above guide (again most of the ops post\ guide i already had done when i built my PC months ago )

i have the same setup .. had no problems

i 5 7600 K
16 gig of crucial ddr 4 2400
asus ROG strix Z 270 H motherboard >latest bios
did not have to unparlk any cores just enabled all 4 via bios setup in asus bios setup

Gigabyte GTX 1060 6 gig GPU latest bios (stayed away from new Nvidia drivers that really i have no need for..no crap bloat like gf EXP installed or used )

so your so called " similar" setup has issues you need to resolve

here is my benchmark
https://ibb.co/juaNzm

start with your system bios

make sure its up to date ..

There must be something else wrong, i doubt its the games fault. If you have the same copy as everyone else including latest update then the game is working at its best. It must be something wrong with your computer. Try installing ''Driver booster'' from IObit and update all of your drivers.

Criss he -probaly has all bios settings wrong .. and needs to read his motherboard manual

took me a few days when i built my new system ..as i always take my time when building ..so i get it right from the first boot

ppl miss steps like enableing dual channel memory
or enableing XMP settings
or mix ram modules that may be a differnt voltage or freqeuncy as well as timings

and install all kinda crap ware ..or not understand its pre installed woth your vid card drivers .. and yea some times older drivers from your vidcard makers site work better

nice guide tho sir ..you pretty much nailed it !

ACO runs great here , as you can see from my bench mark ..it came out a bit higher then yours .

if ya get time try trowing a lil program like razor cortex into the mix .. i use that all the time ..it does work to help boost FPS in some games

Razer cortex is something that people with more then 8GB of ram shouldnt use.
Well, not bad, gotta use it later.

Its not the computer its the game. Go take a look over at the Ubisoft forums and look at all the CPU usage complaints. You have people with i7's getting worse performance then i5's. Some people are running the game alot better then others, even if they have ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ parts. Doesn't seem to effect everyone, but enough people to flood Ubisoft with complaints.

So the degree of skill and knowledge of the user is not playing a role in this?

All well and good if you do not have the dreaded AMD FX-8350 CPU which they admit on ther "known issues" page has stability issues leading to most users having freezing and crashes immediately upon startup or within the first few minutes. And no, it is NOT a overheating, stress issue as this has been tested repeatedly on my rig with good results.

CPU core parking was a rare issue in windows 8 and older and has been fixed since windows 8.1. Windows simply disabled the core parking feature entirely so it's a non-issue.
