Save games?
Hi my fellow gamers, i had a crash problem couple of times when i try to load my game and i want to ask if the game loads from uplay cloud so the problem may be heavy traffic of net or something similar. Can i backup my saves to avoid any future problem or its useless anyway?
Is there any chance of permanent save corruption???
Both times i have noticed that i was doing something whan save was loading(downloading windows updates or playing around with the steam)

Hello,

Your save games should be located at: C:\Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft\Ubisoft Game Launcher\savegames\<uplayid>\635 or C:\Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft\Ubisoft Game Launcher\savegames\<uplayid>\1843 if you would like to make some backups.

Loading from the cloud also depends on your cloud save settings in Uplay. If cloud saves are not on it won't but if they are it tries to grab the last save file in the cloud to play with or update your local file too if it hasn't already.

Thank you, in general is it good to use synchronization or not?

In general it is recommend to use Cloud Saves. This means for instance if you have an issue with your PC or if you upgrade your system that the saves will carry over and you won't need to manually move the save.

Mine are located at this path on my system, and I have the game on Steam. Not sure why it's differerent..
C:\Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft\Ubisoft Game Launcher\savegames\{youruserid}\4923

Some sources list "3529" as the folder number..

I always (try to remember to) make backup saves. Ubi's cloud has lost my progress in TWO games so far, and I'm not taking anymore chances on losing hundreds of hours in one. I put mine manually into my own location on my harddrive, and back them up to a cloud service.

Well, I didn't want to come right out and contradict any devs, but my sentiments exactly. NO cloud saves for me.

Yes, i agree... Nobody needs that feature. I am against cloud systems since his invention!

I lost about an hour in a Ubisoft game around 10 years ago, and I thought ok, just a fluke. The next week, I lost about 3 hours of progress, so I had to start the game over again..

Didn't learn my lesson. Another Ubi game a year later, I lost around 4 hours of progress.. So I thought it was just Ubi's cloud service. Didn't learn my lesson.

A different game company, this time one of the Batman franchise games.. Lost around 50 hours of progress. That did it. Now I backup ALL of my games that I play for more than a few hours. It's just the smart, and safe, thing to do.

This way, I can copy my own saves, and keep incremental, archived backups that I can retrieve on a flash drive, or straight from Dropbox or GoogleDrive when I need to.

A LOT of cloud sync save clients ask you cryptic things like, "We have detected a sync issue. The save on the cloud is more recent than the one you have on your system, but it might not reflect the most recent progress in your game. Update your most recent save file? y / n / idk" ---> o_O
