I hate the shadows of the pharaoh
Okay so the guy with the sickle sword... with the very slow telegraphed moves... does he have a secret move that one shot kills you or something cause i had this bastard with almost all 3 health bars full and then i get a wee bit too close and i get killed immediately. Is this seriously a thing? ive died to this ugly freak 3 times now and ive just got the rhythm to kill him and this happens?!?

What difficulty are you playing on? I play on Hard and one-shot-kill with ~75% health does happen. You may wanna upgrade and bring your best gears to the fight.

its my first time playing it so i think its normal... and i have all gold gear. theyre only missing 2 little dots of to full upgrade. but i was at least 90% health... he was at least 55% and then all of a sudden WHAM im desync'd with no warning or whatever.

I've noticed that even starting at around level 50 the CotP DLC is a LOT harder than the normal game. I've had to entirely alter my playstyle from creeping around one shotting everything with predator/hunter bows to rapid firing at guys with a light bow instead. I'm no longer able to one shot enemies, even with fully upgraded gear.

I've yet to be entirely one shot, but two or three happens all the time. Some of them even have combo attacks that may as well be a one shot, considering you can't really dodge after the first one hits.

The Pharaohs are also more or less immune to bows as well, which annoys the crap out of me considering that's been my main weapon for the entire game. I didn't even invest any points into the melee skills until I was like 45.

and it seems at some point you are going to have to deal with them to continue on the main story. i just had to deal with nefertiti in a boss fight after returning her thing back to her throne.

Yep, you'll have to put them all in their graves one by one. This actually ends up removing them as a possible spawn in the mortal world, which seems wierd to me to have content that literally becomes less content the more you play it.

ah great... ive never defeated the guy with the spear yet cause of that one instant move where you have no defense. it pretty much makes the whole leveling thing useless now since they can kill you in 3 hits even if they are level 48. why not just insta kill us as soon as they spawn and get it over with.

You'll beat him. Just keep leveling up your warrior damage with ability points as you progress on other quests. I think I used the charged shield bash when possible as well. I'm not looking forward to battling these guys on my gradual Nightmare playthrough.

Use Legendary Gold weapons that give health on hit as well. But yeah, they're tough.

This is the better description indeed. Rather an actual one-shot it's mostly a chain-maneuver that you can't break out of and end up killing you.

the only legendary health on hit weapon i have is a warrior bow and it eats a lot of arrows per shot. the only real hope i had with nefertiti was shoot her with a light bow to get my adrenaline up and then just overpower... pretty sure that wont work well with the others. least the afterlife has arrow regen

Definitely do some more questing to get a good Legendary Sword with the health on hit perk then. Could take some time though, as I'm sure the 'loot drops' are random. Try helping out the little dude with the Camel ( Reda Bazzarre, blue quest marker on map ). Sometimes he'll give a legendary weapon for a reward.

i sort of found a way to deal with them... use the mount. keep doing drive by melee on them until they die but must do so quickly and avoid attacks from them. also helps to have a heavy blade with instant charging so its heavy damage with holding down the mouse and the speed of the mount lets you avoid theyre attacks. a little better than dodging on foot. so far killed the one with the heavy blunt twice and the sickle sword guy once.

This was the method I used to deal with the Phylatikai in the base game, but at times the heavy strikes still seemed unavoidable.

oh those guys are easy... but those shadows are just made to frustrate... level 48s with the power of level 60s. but the avoidable part is just a matter of timing.

Personally, the boss encounters are way easier than the pharaohs in the wild, because the bosses dont have a time limit and arrows regenerate with the perk. Except the 2 cases a quest forced me to kill them, I never did them because there is no point in doing it.

What helped me, was
#1 play without the lock on and
#2 get better feeling for the movesets (due not using lock on anymore) and
#3 use weapons which using the blue rage meter.

#2 is kinda hard to describe but I did the other day all arena encounters without shield or the rage meter, and after some time it felt like a dance, and some bosses were quite fun and easy with that :steamhappy:

IMO the Shadow with the spear, Shadow of Tutankhamen, is the hardest of the 4. He is immune to shield bash (you can shield bash the other 3), and his spear moves are fast and long reaching. He's able to one shot combo me at full health (I play on nightmare mode), so I use cursed weapons on him. I use long reaching weapons like the heavy blade Sahalin axe and Sarissa spear. Sometimes I try using dual blades just for fun and thrills, but either he disappears or he desyncs me. I can easily kill the other 3 shadows with dual blades on nightmare mode.

BTW the Shadows are a great way to earn ability points at level 55. With the Sahalin axe I can one shot combo them on easy mode. And with the dusk and dawn ability, takes 45 seconds between kills.
