The game feels repetitive
The game is amazing to play, but after playing it for about 35 hours straight over a few days, it started to not be as fun to play.

I think I figured out why. The game is pretty repetitive, and there's not much to break it up. The quests are fun and well written, but the gameplay loop is a pretty short loop, and it has started to wear down the experience for me.

I was also thinking about the minigames in the witcher or kingdom come, and came to realise that there is no minigame in ac origins. Some may say the gladiator arena or the chariots are the minigames, but those aren't as enjoyable, especially the arena. The combat isn't very in depth, so having a "minigame" focused around it is meh, and the chariot racing is alright, but racing minigames have been done way better before.

So, yeah, to me the game is starting to feel really repetitive, and I believe it to be because of the lack of depth in the combat and lack of proper minigames in the world.

Being able to pet a cat is awesome though.

Which games have in-depth combat in your opinion? I found the combat to be pretty good. You can parry, you can block, you can attack while holding your shield up, you can dodge, you can charge your attacks either with shield or not and all these with different animations for each type of weapon. Not to mention four different types of bows and your tools. It's missing a stamina system but Bayek's rolls simulate a stamina system anyway. He is more restricted with rolling than, say, Bloodborne or Dark Souls 3.

I think it was in Rogue. You could interact with oxen, pigs, cats and dogs and even chicken. It's a shame they reduced that to one idle animation with cats only.

also all the skills that increase the depth even more, and the unique attacks the different type of weapons have.

want something different try hacking the animus

I am also pretty curious to check out Odyssey as well.
What did you think of unity then? Some events are like go there and press x and then a.

I played origins and odyssey first. They are very good games. Maybe i should have played the older ones first.

All games are repetitive. Even heavily story-driven games require lots of repetitive keypresses to progress them.

Yes, you should've, but since you can't go back, you should still play them. They're all worth it. They will just feel a bit strange due to the downgrade in gameplay, but the journey is incredible.

Personality for me AC Unity ws the best assassin's game, well at least from the gameplay perspective. Platforming and stealth in this game is still miles better than any other assassin's creed so far.

Platforming is just so much fun in this game. It just feels so slick and smooth. After getting used to it , it's kinda hard to go back and play the other AC games as they end up feeling very clunky. The city of Paris is designed in such a way that encourages platforming and free running , jumping from roof tops to roof tops. It just makes exploring so much more fun.

Steath is also loads of fun. Steath missions are actually challenging and provide you some really creative ways to infiltrate the areas and assassinate the targets. Gathering too much attention to yourself will actually put you in a disadvantage. Co-op missions were also just really fun to play with others.

Story wise it's meh. Nothing special. But a tad bit better than origins imo. Side missions are much better in Origins. I also prefer the melee combat in origins. While fun, it is just so overpowered in origins that it makes messing up steath opportunities inconsequential. But platforming and stealth are both severely downgraded in origins when compared to Unity.

Not sure what you mean by going around pressing x, a. Maybe you are taking about Murder Investigations. I can tell you they are actually a lot of fun. Feels great to do a bit of detective work to figure out who the murder is.

If you are interested in platforming and stealth part of AC I highly recommend giving it a shot. When it released it was a bit buggy. But now it's completely fixed. Last time I played it, I encountered no bugs or any performance issues.
I am playing unity atm. I mean the missions to protect someone. There were situations where i ran to the place, pressed x to punch an enemy once. And clicked a to continue the game already.

When looking at crowds and moving mouse, you can see several people are changing. Clothes and more. That is a bug that is very strange.

Coming from origins, playing unity, you realize how much better origins was.

Seeing / hearing "gameplay loop" suddenly enter people's lexicon the past month, I'm guessing this is the latest fad?

As long as you concentrate on the main plot and only start and do a few side missions when you need to level up to the right level for the next plot mission, you'll be fine. Then if you're not bored, you can do all the side missions. Then if you're still not bored, maybe harass all the camps.

Ha we played the same 3 RPGs in order it seems! After i got a new computer. Now running em all in 4k Ultra settings very nice.

I am definitely enjoying the game a lot. I love the sneaking around and killing an entire fort without being detected. (AI is rather dumb LOL)
I can see how it would be repetitive though since it kind of is...

I do like the Main Quest a lot. Side Quests... a lot less. I dont care for the characters in general with a few exceptions. (like the one in fayuum with the family)
I have never played an Assasins Creed Game before (i did see the movie so a little familiar with the entire animus backstory) but will definitely play Odyssy after this one (i already bought it when it was on sale) I do also own Black Flag in fact and supposedly thats one of the best ones in the series with the old gameplay so definitely giving that one a shot too.

As far as actual RPG goes... 'Choice' is lacking. Games like Kingdome Come and Witcher 3 have choice. You can go about quests in different ways with different outcomes. That i havent encountered here.. Its always 'go kill this person' 'go save this person'. I d love to see a bit more choice for the player. Maybe Valhalla will be better in that? Shame it apparently wont be on Steam at least at release...

You can choose your weapons and i do love how you can upgrade em for gold. A feature i wish Witcher 3 had esp with Grandmaster Armor... Mostly playing with a sword but switching to a big axe or mace from time to time!

All in all still enjoying the game a lot even though it isnt perfect.

Also the game is absolutely breathtaking (and i love Ancient Egypt mythology). I suppose since its a bit newer than Witcher 3 / AAA studio compared to Kingdom Come its a bit higher standard not sure?
Supposedly the game does have some (by many mentioned as nasty ) DRM (not mentioned on steam somehow) but i am not noticing any performance issues in Ultra / 4k max settings... Consistently above 50fps for me.
I do like how you can look in the distance here and actually see everything.
While in Witcher 3 / Kingdom Come you see grass 'loading' especially when you ride the horse. That i find annoying and i dont see this here at all.

All in all would recommend the game for sure.
Supposedly earlier installments were very different so i should definitely check out Black Flag some day.

You could try playing it on nightmare. I started my first playthrough on that difficulty and the obnoxious cheating by the AI is probably the only thing keeping me from falling asleep while playing this.
