What is the deal with wood?
Why are wood transports heavily guarded? It seems like a lot of trouble to kill the transport guy, the two guards and other NPCs who come to kill you when you try to loot a wood transport. I guess its the desert and wood is a scarce resource? Just seems like a lot of trouble to upgrade gear, especially when you need so much of it. Any easier way? Dismantling seems to get like 1 or 2 wood pieces per item. What's the deal?

That's the reason: wood is scarce. There is a notation during the loading screen that states that wood was so scarce that when a structure was abandoned, any wood would be stripped from it and re-used if at all possible. That's why most ruins are stone or other material, with hardly any accessible wood remaining.

Makes me wonder why they bother with wooden doors, since Bayek is going to find a way inside anyway.

weird, I'm close to the end of the game and wood is the resource I have the most, you constantly loot enemies for bows and then dismantling them, try that :)

Except that the tooltips for wood material is quoting it's a common material.

For ruins stones it's just that stone survive a lot longer than wood.

Ha ok good tip, it's not much wood per bow but I suppose it counts with many bows.
