Trinkets and most animal parts?

Preface, my first AC game and want to really like it, because regardless of it's apparent shallow game mechanics, it still seems to be some fun and has incredible render and environmental detail.

But so far things like trinkets (hash pipe, cat amulet - supposed to "legendary") and bird beaks and tongues (!) have absolutely no purpose? Correct me if wrong. Are we just supposed to collect these things (really? that's supposed to be fun?) or just sell them to avoid the clutter...?

There are some quests that use certain animal parts, but they are mainly for selling. There is an achievement for selling 100 trinkets at once, but if you don't care for achievements then just sell them every time you go to a merchant. The quests that require the animal parts usually send you to a place where you can easily hunt for the required parts.

yeah, hated to do it but looked up (try to avoid that) and then saw the 100 trinket 'achievement' but already sold probably a dozen or more of them at this point except my smoking pipes... LOL! Thanks for reply!
