My least favorite Assassins Creed so far...
I honestly thought AC3 would continue as my least favorite, but this game has taken the spot. I honestly HATE the RPG mechanics, and having to only be able to attack enemies round my level, and not being able to assassinate all the enemies i see like in classic AC. It just destroys immersion for me when i hti a dude a billion times with a sword and he's still standing.. PLz no, more RPG bs after Odyssey, go back to classic style. lol AC Black Flag by far is the best imo, with AC2 not far behind.

I think it also depends on your play style. For me, stealth is my armour from those I can't "take down" to get to an objective. I don't mind being under powered. I like the tension of danger when spotted.

Having said that I also like clearing a whole fort/camp with OCD type determination. I guess also being "level gated" doesn't feel natural in a AC game.

No... Being level gated does not feel natural at all in franchise that never had it.. I feel like levels though is a cheap way of making a game "hard", or have any tension.. There are better ways of doing that.. Like old AC can have a main target surrounded by loads of enemies, some with powerful weapons... That can give tension.. one mistep and its over, or can try to survive, but will rough.

Ahh.. Good point. All NPC's including a bosses guard are the same generic bowman/soldier and occasional heavy. There aren't any "special" unit types unique to the target boss. In comparison though I did find Odyssey and Origins easier titles than their predessors

You can't seriously tell me you dislike this game so much and put it as your least favourite AC JUST because of the RPG mechanics. What about all the other stuff this game got soooo right. Interesting characters and fun side missions that tie into the plot. Great gameplay mechanics, beautiful graphics and a solid sound score. Replayability and shock and awe value. Intricuite map and world design. The map is a wonder to explore because of the gorgeous architecture and beautiful scenery. The game is so much fun to pop into and just ride around, clear a base or camp or do a side quest. I have to say that yeah I know you have you're own opinion and that's fine, but I feel like you're not giving the game enough credit. Odessey however... now that is almost like this game, in no way. That game had a lot of things wrong with it and in that game I can totally stand behind anyone saying the RPG mechanics in that game were horrible. And a lot of other things to. But then again it also got some things right. I digress. I enjoy the game by the way for any who have had trouble understanding my view. But you have you're own opinion bro I respect that. This game definitely is better than AC 3 though...

It's definitely different, but still a very good game. My favourite combat was in Unity, it felt so fluid and weighted. My least favourite was the cartoony combat in Syndicate, by a huge margin.

I disagree the characters, or story is that great.. Side quests can be fun tho will admit.. World is bland, mostly sand, with all villages mostly looking the same, though some buildings looking neat. I feel like i played other AC games with better worlds, characters, story, and quests.. But the RPG elements is what kills it for me in Origins. Its not the worst, after i remembered a few others i disliked a lot like Unity, but this was far from my favorite.

Hi all, I have played ac since the first of them, and have enjoyed all of them. I am not as interested in the cod or bf war games, and find the stealth aspects to be the attracting factor. The sniper elite games, for that reason, also appeal to me. From this discussion it seems that the criticisms are based more in the way that the new battle style rpg type element affects the traditional ac stealth abilities. And I admit that it took a while to understand what to expect as i familiarized myself with it. What I've come to realize is that the evolution of ac seems to be a combination of ubisoft trying to manage new content opportunities so things dont become boring from game to game, with the introduction of what they would consider improvements to battle dynamics. And that combination being complex and massive will inadvertently cause some issues with varying styles of game play. Something which I would say was certainly improved upon with ac odysseys gear set builds. To the critics, if u are fans of the franchise, pick and choose your favorites as you will, but try to avoid suggesting that those not in your top choices are not worthy of the traditional, or that any particular battle style is flawed because of your own preferences. Imo, every game has its place, and its comparisons, and it's the very fact that these variances even exist that has made the franchise so successful. With odyssey, you can virtually build a gear set for three different play styles, and the players skill at doing so is what will make the game for them. With that in consideration, being appreciative of ubisoft's efforts to evolve, we should utilize whatever each game has to offer within the context of that specific game, and not detract from the others by comparison. I have always played as an assassin, but still enjoyed playing rogue as a templar and have simply accepted that odyssey is more enjoyable played as a warrior than assassin. It just fits that character better, although at this time I am only level 56 and have not done the last of the main questline. Looking forward to the dlcs.

sorry but i disagree, i ve played every ac game except odyssey but so far this one comes on top.

Opinions, but i can't stand RPG elements in this. Would of been better without. Even if they kept the same story, world, quests, and such, just more like older AC it would of been great. (though still not my fav) I played them all too except Odyssey.

Black Flag beats this by a mile. Even AC3 is better imo.
If you havent played odyssey, oh boy does the RPG elements get worse.

Tldr.. I can see there are different player styles you mention, but that doesnt matter.. This is AC not a game where you arent an assassin.. The fact that it gives you other options makes it feel not like a AC game, but something completely different. I beat Origins, and have been playing Odyssey, and while i enjoy the main character so far (He's pretty funny tbh.), the game feels nothing like AC to me. Just some action game with a slight bit of stealth, with Assassins Creed stamped onto it.

I disagree, but I see your point – it's definitely different..

Ubi made it clear that these two games (Origins & Odyssey) were going to explore the AC universe from a time before Assassins were really a thing. It feels like a good lead-in to me, for the whole franchise, but wish it had come first maybe? Dunno. All I know is, they are excellent games, and I like the changes. But it seems to have "off-putted" a lot of fans that preferred the previous game style.

I did miss some of the more basic assassin styled missions, tbh. But this and Odyssey are just incredible games that I love the direction they've taken them. It's too bad they didn't design the games with both modes: rpg-lite, as well as straight forward classic AC style. Would it have been possible? Again, don't know, but it would have been cool for subsequent playthroughs to try the different modes.
