Nice guide overall, but more like quality of life improvements for general Windows users.
Otherwise.. Thanks!! I knew a lot of this stuff in Win 7, but hadn't seen it all spelled out nice and neatly for Win 10. I did a bunch of that stuff already, but I learned a couple of things I hadn't seen yet. Really appreciate it.
Also, gpedit.msc isn't available by default on my version of Win 10.. I had to follow the steps here to get it enabled, just in case anyone else is trying to follow these instructions and it's unavailable for them as well.
https://www.itechtics.com/enable-gpedit-windows-10-home/
But, it didn't really matter after all, because none of this stuff is listed in my Win 10 Group Policy Editor anyway..
. OneDrive
. Allow Telemetry
. AllowCortana
Also:
bcdedit /set useplatformclock true
bcdedit /set disabledynamictick yes (to disable the dynamic tic to improve
Remove space before 'set', else it won't work.
is true that I forgot to mention it, some options like what you mention via gpedit.msc are only available in "pro" version onwards I think the "home" versions do not bring such options, you can always do it in another way via log, cmd , powershell but is more messy
This is a topic that has brought me much controversy and much forear, there are people who with this enabled lose performance and others who win, the conclusion that I take is to prove yourself and see WinTimerTester if the time to synchronize 1,000 is less, in my case has improved me, I think HPET works with older CPUs not modern generations that have their own more efficient timer, To see if it's on or off run "bcdedit /enum" and if you don't see a line that says "useplatformclock Yes" it's off.
I would like to say that I am not a computer user and I do not intend to make it work. I only share what personally in my PC has given me a performance that I have never seen, and I know many configurations and tricks that one learns and tests, the same thing does not give them confidence or does not give them a benefit every pc is a different world, I try to share some things as they mentioned they may seem from the windows itself but these things have an impact on the use of the OS itself to navigate, play do what be my pc is more stable and good performance
PD: The commands to me work as I copied them with a space after set, it may be different in your case, but believe me it works like this in this way
It deals with Windows Fall Update and memory management, and it was the only working solution for me to get rid of stuttering.
