Its not a steam key. Its a uplay dlc key.
That is completely unprofessional on both parties. Espically considering there is no warning saying that. Uplay should not be aloud to sell their games on steam because of this.
How? They sell their games on steam knowing this is an issue. Regardless of where I purchased the key from, I purchased it none-the-less. Which is not a consumer issue. There are no guidelines saying I can't buy the key somewhere else. And as I said, it would be different if there was a WARNING on the purchase of the Season pass or game when buying them.
How is getting a deal being cheap? Why would you buy a PC for 999$ when you can get the same one - no strings attached for 899$?
The consumer (me) is not to blame either. It is not my problem there is a issue between steam and uplay.
I never try to mix-match platforms anyways, this is just an observation.
Please don't try to drag me into a file location arguement.....
Exactly. Like I said it would be 10000% different if there was warning about the incompatibilites, however since there are none, I don't understand how I am at fault for not know about it, when ubisoft and steam obviously do.
Will we see a change in the future? Maybe, but definitely not tomorrow.
Uplay and Steam are completely compatible with each other , but Steam being primarily a distribution platform, it WONT support products that it doesnt get a cut from.
Uplay is pretty straight forward though. It would accept any keys for any Ubisoft products. But if its from Steam you would have to download from steam nontheless( again, not a uplay issue. thats just how Steam works. If you play steam games, you need steam files. THE END).
Now, back to your issue about the DLC. You put in your key in Uplay and it accepts the key. Some of the stuff like weapons and outfits are already in the game files(because they drop from the heka chest) so you get them without hassle. About the expansion, Uplay knows you have the expansion, but you own the game on Steam so you would have to download the files from Steam(refer to paragraph 3). Now when steam starts looking, it doesnt find any Steam compatible product activations on your game(refer to paragraph 2). On the off chance the you get to download the DLC from Uplay, Steam still wont recognize that.
you see where the issue stems from? Uplay( and by extension Ubisoft) is not to be blamed here. Blame Steam, but moreover blame yourself. If the DLC is a product and the base game is the platform on which it works , You bought a PS game for your XBOX
only option you have is to download DLC files from external source and place them in the game folder, otherwise you must purchase the dlc again from steam.
this is an ongoing issue since 6 years now, uplay should disallow uplay dlcs keys activation on steam base game version.
it will not work as its a uplay key, stop being an idiot and learn to read
