desync from slaughtering civilians is so damn annoying
tried Origins "demo" version, this desync bullsh!t kept me away from purchasing it, went straight for Odyssey instead even though i love ancient egypt more.
seriously, whose smartarse idea to limit the things you could do in such a large map?

You seem to forget that you're playing a simulation. This desynch by killing pedestrians has been there since the very first AC title, 12 years ago, m8. It's not stupid, why would you want to kill civilians? They don't even bother you like they did in the first 3 games.

Actually once you beat the game you could kill civilians freely in AC1, they never carried that over to the games released since then though.

its open world game, supposed to allow players to do stuff freely. (unless its game for kids then devs gotta tune it down)
what's the point of adding pedestrians if u're not allowed to interact with them, if just for eyecandy in 2017 then its silly to limit its full potential.
could be for practicing archery or just for a little bit of fun, that sort of freedom was what made gta3 such a legend in gaming history.

the mechanism is already there, its frustrating to see it locked for no good reason.

heard that Rouge had that kind of freedom. even if not, staying the same for 12 years is a lame excuse not to evolve.

never heard of another 18+ open world killer game would desync players from killing.
i'm glad Odyssey removed that nonsense.

I recall what I said, it's a SIMULATION. You're playing as a medjay, they DON'T kill civilians, they protect them. You're trying to synchronise with Bayek's memories, disobeying what he did while he was alive would trigger a desynch. It's not that hard. The Animus formula from AC franchise didn't change because it makes sense in their games' context. In Rogue you could kill civilians because you were playing as a Templar, and in Odyssey as a Mercenary. In all the other games you play as Assassins, and they DON'T kill civilians, despite Altaïr who killed a poor old man at the very beginning.

I didn't include any spoilers, just basic knowledge about the series and things that happens within the first hours of gameplay.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

alright, but even if its something from third hour gameplay, i still prefer to find it out myself.
so i didn't read the details u wrote, but i suppose u're saying that doesn't fit the protagonist's personality or medjay's job. its a game, u're not an actor of a film who gotta behave exactly like that character whenever u're on screen.

lol u sound like one of those little brats always moans about "why Odyssey is called Assassins Creed".
anyway, they gave what i want in Odyssey, any further complaint?
what a gaming noob to think "killing civilians = gta", Odyssey allows killing civilians, and that doesn't make Odyssey a gta.

They literally stated that Bayek is the last medjay in the E3 demo, 2 years ago...
As I said, SI MU LA TION. Bayek never killed civilians while he was alive, you're reviving his memories, his life. You gotta do exactly what he did or you'll desynch. That's why you desynch when you kill domestic animals, civilians, when you die or when you visit zones that he didn't visit at specific times.

that's my point, doing stuff exactly the same as the script loses the meaning of open world.
u can never do exactly the same thing anyway, eg wielding different weapon or doing side missions in different order shd get u desync too?

You missed the point, actually. If AC were tied to a fixed script, we would have a Level or Mission based game instead of an open World.
AC was always about experiencing memories of other people trough technology. Bayek is a set character with a specific personality and place in the World and thats it. He obviously never killed innocent people or pulled other stupid stunts and thats it.
