How do i pick dead bodys up

Go near the body and hold E.

At 1.7 hours into the game, he's probably still only knocking enemies out, not killing them. They have to actually be dead before Bayek can pick them up.

One sword attack usually does the trick. They take full damage or something when they're down like that.
