Photo mode - how does "likes" work?
Just curious more than anything, as taken a number of photos and looked at other peoples.

Seen photo of the day and lots of "likes" on others but none of mine has a single "like".

Not an attention wh0re by any means, but more curious as to how this feature is supposed to work...

huge assumption on my part but I think it has to do more with the uplay players, so anyone you're friends with on Uplay can see it if they also play the game and like it and maybe after a few likes it has a better shot to go around the ether. That's just an assumption though from how those social challenges worked in black flag, I could be totally wrong

If that was the case, then why I see pictures of people who are not even on my friends list ?

I would assume because they got that number of votes, I was thinking more along the lines of your friends see it first and give you votes and it moves up in the queu of pictures to show everyone, I think what you see is just the most popular photos from all the gamers in your region, if not the map would be nothing but those little photo icons just by the shear number of players

I have been trying to figure out the same thing guys...I am glad someone else brought this up. I have seen photos of a flower and it has 20 likes. Mine all seem to appear hidden...are yours also hidden too?

I've taken loads of photos and in only one of them i've had 3 likes, but also being able to v iew photos you can only view so many at a time (if you could view them all the entire map would eventually be a cluster ♥♥♥♥) so it could be random intervals maybe I dunno.

I only appear to be able to see them on the map when pressing F3...

It's the same as Steam, where the more friends one has to like a photo, the better chance of said photo appearing to others. I'm a photographer myself - studied fine and digital art in art college, and studied photography on my own and in community college - and have taken some great 'photos' in various games over the years (No Man's Sky, for example, where you can get some very captivating shots). Even so, I've never gotten a single like from anyone on any of my photos, and I realized a couple of years back that it was most likely due to only having one friend on Steam. Most of the people who have dozens, even hundreds of likes, also possess many friends, which help them to get their shots upped in the cue and noticed by other players (even though, most of the time, the most popular photos aren't anything to write home about).

In other words, much like social media, it's all just nothing more than a popularity contest. Actual skill and talent are often overlooked in favor of how many 'friends' a person has.
