How do you link ubisoft and steam together?
I bought my game (not from steam, but i got a product key from another website where i bought it from, and i activated it on ubisoft product page.) however, whenever I play assassin's creed, it's a bit annoying I can't have it linked to my steam account cause I want it to show that I'm playing assassin's creed on here.

You cannot. Only way to have a Ubisoft game on Steam is to purchase it on Steam.

You can add a Non-Steam game by clicking Games in the top left corner, and select, "Add a Non-Steam game to my Library"

Then look for AC Origins and add it. This way you can use the Steam overlay in the game and have your friends list and stuff there.

I don't know whether it will show your playtime or not, and it will never really be like owning it on Steam. But it's the best there is for your situation.

It WILL say when your friends mouse over your name that you are "Playing non-steam game AC Origins" or whatever though if that's all you want.

I purchased the game too and then realised it was not a steam key .... I felt ... dumb.
Luckily I was able to sell the uplay key and buy a steam key instead.

I tried to actually do that, however, it wasnt showing when I was playing it, I got the shortcut on my desktop, but it wont show up in my "add a game" list, I tried to go into the program folder of the actual game, and got completely confused.

You have to specifically go to Games and then "Add a non-steam game to my library," as I don't think it will work by just clicking add a game. (could be wrong, but I think there's a difference)

Then if it's not in the list, click browse. You should be able to find it in:
C:\Program Files(x86)\Ubisoft\Ubisoft Game Launcher\games\Assassin's Creed Origins\

You are looking specifically for the file named - ACOrigins.exe

After you add it, you have to then launch the game through Steam for it to show as you playing it in Steam.

I'll try this, thanks, however, the game will show up as ACOrigins tho, wont it? and not like "assassin's creed origins"

Oh, actually according to this it won't work with Uplay games correctly:

My bad, maybe I'm wrong. I've done it before with a game but I don't think it was a Uplay game. It was more of a pain in the butt than anything anyway unfortunately.

If it works you can rename it to whatever you want I believe.

Trying to add assassins creed origins to my list of games. I did the install but when I try to boot it up, it says “Unable to detect Ubisoft connect” How do I fix it?
