Im with you... If I get more into the game than I will put out more money.
I switch games so much that I decided to go for the deluxe version rather than gold, If I'm still playing it in several months time when the DLCs come out, then I'll simply buy the season pass then.
Deluxe: Normal game experience with additional perks that will make the game easier to start therefore game mastery will be a bit easier to accomplish.
Gold: Same as deluxe but you don't need to worry about buying major expansions.
If you are rich then go for Gold. Want a nice flow of gameplay without the hassle of grinding early game then get deluxe. Want a standard experience get standard.
Personally got Deluxe then refunded and got Gold because I got extra muns.
