Levels in Origins Breaks Gameplay
So I've been playing this game, and very early on I'm noticing an issue which entirely breaks the format of Assassin's Creed, and in my view, relinquishes all enjoyment of stealth gameplay, which is the premise of the entire series.

I recently found myself receiving the series renound hidden blade, however my excitment was very swiftly taken from me when I realized one fatal flaw.
On the very first assassination mission directly following the aquisition of the hidden blade, I found it impossible to kill the main assassination target with the hidden blade.
Sure it did damage to him, but he would always survive, calling for more help and soon the entire fortress knew of my presence.
All feeling of stealth gone. The idea and design of the hidden blade is to reward players skillful enough to get close enough to their target undetected with a swift equally stealthy kill.
However I'm assuming either because of his level, or "plot" he can't die in one hit to the hidden blade.

Which brings me to another issue in the game. The Levels.
I'm sorry, but someone not wearing a helmet would die to an arrow to the temple regardless of level. So I'm here trying to progress through the story, but hitting a wall not because of my skill, but because the game's existence of character levels.
Now I know some will say "well just level up." Well with previous installments in the series, I wasn't held back by some leveling system. A shot to the head was a shot to the head resulting in my target meeting their demise.

Note: I am playing on the hard setting, but still, a hidden blade "Assassination" flashing Y button should result in the target being well...assassinated.

On an unrelated note: In that same mission, I did manage to kill the target, but then found myself stuck in a hay bale in which I was glitched and couldn't escape, leading to the guards that were chasing me shooting me until I died in a miserable pile of salt.

Yeah it's a balancing mechanic. And like with any mechanic, it can have it's flaws. This game is very similar to Witcher 3 in that aspect.

The only time I have had a problem like that is when I'm very under leveled for an area/target. There is a lot to do in each section of the map... if this bothers you... I'd just take more time in each area to level and upgrade.

But yeah you are right, it is very unimmersive to shoot someone dead in the head, with a strong bow, just to have them just shrug it off.

Unless you are trying to beat the game at record speed. I dont see how the current leveling progression breaks immersion. If you are doing side quest, exploration and main quest at the same time you will find yourself 3-5 levels above the area your currently in. Im currently in Memphis at level 30 and that area is well below my level playing on normal at normal speed doing missions, exploring and side questing. Im not even taking my time. Im playing normal speed. I have about 57 hours in and about 47% complete.

Assassin's Creed Origin is well balanced with the level progression. The only problem is we have a culture of players that have Attention Defeatist Disorder and they cant sit thru three minutes of monologue, the ability to do side quest, explore or anything else that require attention or take to much time.

If you did indeed play the game like your suppose to enjoying every bit of it exploring, side questing, and main mission at the same time, instead of going 1000 mph thru the main story without enjoying the game and skipping all the cut scenes. Then yes you will below level on a main mission run. Is not the game is your style of gaming. Take time to smell the roses and you will find you will be above level on everything you are doing.

Also mind you, your saying this with 7+ hours of game play in your profile (Altair). at 7 hours of game play I was not even in Alexandra and what your talking about is towards the end of the Alexandria run with the main mission.( not to give out any spoilers) but your going way to fast. Clearly only doing main mission.

That said as someone whose beat the game I can understand this (especially as randomly in a level 20ish area I got some level 35+ missions, no biggy something to return to later but was a bit odd with the flow) Witcher 3, it's worth noting has an option to have the game adjust to your level, a feature I'd like to see added into AC:O (I'd also like to see them add a new game + option)

Only makes sense if this wasn't an origin story, you aren't really suppose to be stealth at all, you just are because you're an elite warrior. Even end game Aya states it's time to "stay in the shadows" so yea

Ya dude you should really be doing the side missions as well. What fun is this game just pounding through the story quickly? Like said stop and smell the roses, listen to the stories, help out the locals, explore the deserts and so on. Lots of actual lore and history that was added into this if you take the time to listen and read. Do all of that and leveling will be no issue. My main mission is level 31 I'm level 37 right now and it's been like that for most of the game. I'm at like close to if not over 50 hours of game play and still have some yet to go.

Hey Altair1293,

The team really wanted to make this game feel more like an open world RPG. Therefore they decided to format the leveling in a system that recommends you be very close to the enemies level, otherwise, you will essentially be trying to stab the enemy with a spoon if the level gap is too great. I understand that it can be frustrating that the mechanics of Assassin's Creed Origins differ so much from the other games in the series, but the team really wanted the player to feel a better sense of freedom and control over their character's movements. The hope behind this was to make the player feel more rewarded when taking down high-level enemies. Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback!

Mate. I am level 40, and still have issues using stealth kills on enemies several levels below me. Their health pools are simply too large for me to stealthily take them out.

I am level 40 and had to take out a captain of a fortress that is level 32... Fully upgraded blade killed him for 25%. I understand the decision to make you not being able to take out enemies that are very strong, but this is ridiculous...
